At 10 years old, she has experienced so much.
Sophia Espiritu: I was diagnosed with LCH, which is short for “Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis,” which is a rare brain tumor, in March 2018, when I was 9 years old.

She is so brave and prayerful.
Sophia Espiritu: Of course, with God’s help, He has blessed me, and has helped me to stay strong.
[On-screen text graphic]
She kept her faith in God. And in September 2018, she received a great blessing.
Sophia Espiritu: When I knew that Brother Eduardo V. Manalo—the current Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ—wanted to meet me? And pray for me? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! Someone with such an important role in the Church, such an important role in the Administration—in what we believe in, and whom God appointed—wanted to personally meet me?

United We Stand with the Executive Minister
Brother Johnny Martin: Why do members of the Church Of Christ, like Sophia, have such deep respect and love for the Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ? Well, that’s what we’ll talk about today on The Message.

The Message Special
Brother Johnny: Hello, I’m Brother Johnny Martin, and with me in the studio is Brother Richie Juatco. Hi Brother Richie!
Brother Richie Juatco: Hi, Brother Johnny! Nice to see you again!
Brother Johnny: Nice to see you again as well. Dear friends, September 7, 2020 marks the 11th anniversary of Brother Eduardo V. Manalo as the Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo.

Brother Johnny Martin
Minister of the Gospel
Brother Johnny: For us, the members of the Church Of Christ, this is a significant day. We are very thankful to God for having placed an Administrator who truly cares about the welfare of the brethren all around the world. The Church is now in more than 150 countries and territories of the world, and, you know, that number keeps increasing.

Brother Richard Juatco
Minister of the Gospel
Brother Richie: Just as Brother Felix Y. Manalo—God’s Messenger in these last days, and the first Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ—with Brother Eraño G. Manalo—the second Executive Minister—they loved and cared for the Church, no doubt, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo—the current Executive Minister—does the same. That’s the reason why we have such high respect for him and his office.
Brother Johnny: However, dear friends, there are people outside the Church who criticize the members of the Church Of Christ for the high regard we have for our Executive Minister. They even criticize the ministers and the many brethren who pray that we remain united or stay one with the Church Administrator. So, why is it so important for us to remain one with the Executive Minister? Brother Richie, what is the importance of our being united with the Church Administration?
Brother Richie: That’s a good question, Brother Johnny. We know that those who criticize us—it’s because they don’t understand—but to help them understand, we can read the answer here, in I John, the chapter is 1, the verse is 3. It says this:
We give you word of all we have seen and everything which has come to our ears, so that you may be united with us; and we are united with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ:
[I John 1:3 The Bible in Basic English]
Brother Richie: Here, we can read what Apostle John mentioned in the Bible. Now, Apostle John, we know, was one of those that administered the Church. Now, as part of the Church Administration, what was his instruction? He said, “Be united with us.”
Now, why is it that the members of the Church should be united with the Church Administration? He said, because we are united with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. So, when the members of the Church Of Christ remain one and united with the Church Administration, they are able to remain one and united with God, and His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Brother Johnny: So, dear viewers, consider how truly significant it is to remain united with the Church Administration. Now, why is it that when the members of the Church Of Christ remain united with the Church Administration, they remain united with God and with His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ? Brother Richie, what has been entrusted to the Church Administration?
Brother Richie: Another good question, Brother Johnny, because some might wonder, Why them? What is it that they have? So, what is entrusted to them, we can read, here in II Corinthians. We’ll read from chapter 5, and we’ll start with 18, we’ll continue to 20. It says here:
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
[II Corinthians 5:18–20 New King James Version]
Brother Richie: Again, we are reading from God’s words through the apostles—now, Apostle Paul. Apostle Paul, again, was part of the Church Administration. Now, in the question of Brother Johnny, what was entrusted to the Church Administration? It was the word of reconciliation and the ministry of reconciliation. So, we have to understand, what is reconciliation? It’s when two were separated and they are going to be reconciled. They are going to come together.
So, when people are separated from God, they want to come back to God, what is it that they need? They need the word of reconciliation. Who was that entrusted to? That was to the Church Administration. So, what is that? That is God’s words. That is His words in the Bible. What else was entrusted to them? The ministry of reconciliation. So, they have to administer the services of those inside the Church, and the primary function of that is the preaching of the Gospel.
Brother Johnny: That is a very important point, Brother Richie and dear friends. So, when the members of the true Church Of Christ remain one with the Church Administration, when the brethren stand united with our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, we are able to remain reconciled to God, and that’s very important. We’ll remain united with God and with His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, beloved friends, assisting Brother Eduardo V. Manalo in administering the Church members around the world, are the ministers—ministers, ministerial workers—that have been assigned by him to the various ecclesiastical districts and local congregations. How does the Church Administrator feel about the brethren? And do the ministers and ministerial workers share that same feeling?
Brother Richie: Well, we can read, Brother Johnny, just like what we’ve been doing. We’re reading what is recorded about the Church Of Christ in the first century. We can see how it is the same today. We’ll read here in Philippians, chapter 2, verses 19-20. It says this:
But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I know your state. For I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state.
[Philippians 2:19–20 New King James Version]
Brother Richie: Here, Apostle Paul—as one who administered the Church in the Gentile nation—is testifying of Timothy. Timothy was a young minister. What is it that he said? He said that “I have no one like-minded,” like-minded to “sincerely care for your state.”
Brother Johnny: Now, Brother Richie, what does that mean—what you just read right there in the Bible? What did Apostle Paul mean when he said about Timothy, “I have no one like-minded, who will sincerely care for your state”?
[On-Screen Text Graphics]
The Message
United We Stand With The Executive Minister
Brother Richie: Well, Brother Johnny, we read it in one translation. For clarity, we could read it in another translation just to see what exactly that means where he says, “I have no one like-minded.” If we read the same verse, Philippians 2:19–20. Here, we can read, it is translated this way:
If it is the Lord’s will, I hope that I will be able to send Timothy to you soon, so that I may be encouraged by news about you. He is the only one who shares my feelings and who really cares about you.
[Philippians 2:19–20 Good News Bible]
Brother Richie: So when the Church Administration says that they have those that are like-minded, it shows that they really share the same feelings. Now, what feeling does the Church Administration have? As we read, it says, they really care about the Church.
So just like Apostle Paul really cared about the Church, today, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo as the Executive Minister, he is the same, how he truly cares for the Church. What’s the proof? When he became the Executive Minister of the Church in 2009— the Church now is global, it is worldwide—he had pastoral visitations, he visited the brethren all around the world. It didn’t matter what the distance was, it didn’t matter what the dangers were, different weather. Why is it that he did that? It is because he really cares for the brethren, and he wants to help prepare them for the Lord’s return.
Brother Johnny: And you know, dear viewers, even in this time of pandemic, our Executive Minister continues to really care about the members of the Church Of Christ. He makes use, now, of video conferencing technology, in order to conduct his pastoral visitations, to edify, to strengthen the brethren.
He remains relentless in his efforts to care for all the members of the Church Of Christ. You know, there’s no doubt at all that Brother Eduardo V. Manalo really loves and cares for all members of the Church Of Christ.
Brother Richie: And just as we read, as Timothy really shared the feeling of Apostle Paul, today, the ministers, ministerial workers, and even the Church officers, share the same feeling as the Executive Minister—really caring for the brethren, really hoping to keep everyone united [with] the Church Administration, helping them be loyal to our God and our Lord Jesus Christ, and really helping prepare everyone for salvation on the Day of Judgment.
Brother Johnny: Now, you know, dear friends, some might be wondering, “Well, how do the ministers, ministerial workers, Church officers, and even the rest of the brethren show that they are standing united with the Church Administration?” Brother Richie, what teaching of the Holy Scriptures do the members of the Church Of Christ uphold with unwavering faith?
Brother Richie: Brother Johnny, there is that biblical teaching that everyone is following to show their unity, and we can read what is written in Hebrews. The chapter is 13, the verse is 17, it says here:
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you.
[Hebrews 13:17 New International Version]
Brother Richie: You know that biblical instruction given to the members of the Church that we are following now? It is what we read, “Obey your leaders.”
[On-Screen Text Graphics]
The Message
United We Stand With The Executive Minister
Brother Richie: So the leader is placed before us—what is it that we should understand? It says that they have [an authority] and we should submit to their authority. What is their authority? What is [their duty]? It is to watch over us.
[On-Screen Text Graphics]
The Message
Brother Richard Juatco
Minister of the Gospel
Brother Richie: So, if there are those that are watching over us, making sure that we’re continuing to move forward for salvation, why would we not obey them? So what we do is we respond positively. Any teaching, any instruction, any project, any campaign launched by the Church Administration we follow, because we want to obey the instruction written in the Bible.
Brother Johnny: Now, Brother Richie, what if somebody would ever say to a member of the Church Of Christ, “Don’t listen to your leaders”?
Brother Richie: Well you know what, Brother Johnny, then [it] would be very clear [that] whoever is saying that [is] not from God.
Brother Johnny: That’s right, and they’re not a true Christian.
Brother Richie: Correct.
Brother Johnny: Because a true Christian, beloved friends, a true Christian, a true member of the true Church Of Christ, he follows what the Bible says: obeying our leaders and submitting to their authority.

The Message
Brother Johnny Martin
Minister of the Gospel
Brother Johnny: Now, dear friends, you know, one of the things we’re going to talk about now is what others have observed us doing as members of the Church Of Christ. What is that? We pray for the Church Administration. It’s been observed by others that when they go—maybe to our worship services, they have noticed that we pray for our beloved Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, and even his principal helpers in administering the Church.
[On-Screen Text Graphics]
The Message
United We Stand With The Executive Minister
Brother Johnny: But, you know, why are we doing that? Did we just make that up on our own? Why are we praying for the Church Administration? Is it strange for us to pray for Church leaders, or is it the right thing for us to do, Brother Richie, as members of the Church Of Christ?
Brother Richie: You know, Brother Johnny, again for those that criticize us for that, they don’t really understand.

The Message
Brother Richard Juatco
Minister of the Gospel
Brother Richie: Some might even say that, “Oh that’s not biblical.” But the way to prove that is—let’s just go to the Bible. We’ll read what is recorded in Ephesians, the chapter is 6, verses 18–19, it says this:
Do all this in prayer, asking for God’s help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God’s people. And pray also for me, that God will give me a message when I’m ready to speak, so that I may speak boldly and make known the gospel’s secret.
[Ephesians 6:18–19 Good News Bible]
Brother Richie: Again, we are reading God’s words, through the Apostle Paul, one of those that administered the Church in the first century. What is the instruction? The instruction is, “Always pray for all God’s people.”
So, we follow that instruction. Today, we pray for the entirety of the Church, but notice what he also instructed. He said, “Pray also for me”. Why is it that the Church should be praying for Apostle Paul, at the time, as the Church Administrator? Because he said, “So that God will give me a message when [I am] ready to speak, so that I may speak boldly and make known the gospel’s secret.” So it is not wrong to pray for the Church Administration.
Brother Johnny: It’s biblical.
Brother Richie: It is biblical, as we just read.
Brother Johnny: And the Almighty God has been answering all of these prayers. You know, under the inspired administration of our present Executive Minister, the Church has been successful in all of its endeavors. We see the Iglesia Ni Cristo marching ever onward in victory, as we celebrated the 106th anniversary of its emergence in these last days, and as we now commemorate the 11th anniversary of the dynamic leadership of our beloved Brother Eduardo V. Manalo.
Brother Richie: And we thank God because another year—another blessed year—has been added to the administration entrusted to Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. And it is our fervent prayer that God preserve him, until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Message
United We Stand With The Executive Minister
Brother Johnny: Now, Brother Richie, you mentioned that we pray for the safety, the protection of our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, and the brethren are doing that, and that’s a good thing, and God has been answering that prayer.
Brother Richie: Yes, Brother.
Brother Johnny: Now, what else is it that we, as members of the Church Of Christ, pray for regarding the Executive Minister?
Brother Richie: Well, let’s continue to learn what the biblical instructions are for the Church Of Christ regarding the leaders chosen for them. I’ll read here from Colossians, chapter 4, we’ll read from verse 3:
meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,
[Colossians 4:3 New King James Version]
Brother Richie: Here, we can read again the instruction of the Church Administration to the members of the Church. According to what we have read, Apostle Paul said pray for us. What is it that the members of the Church should pray for the Church Administration? It says, so that a door would be opened—open to us the door for the word to speak the mystery. So, to reveal to them the mystery of God, and so that it may, in turn, be preached to us so that we will understand.
Brother Johnny: Now on that point, Brother Richie, how does the Church Administrator fulfill that task assigned by the Lord God to the Church Administrator: the task of proclaiming to us the words of God?
Brother Richie: Good question, Brother Johnny, because maybe some might think, “Well, how is it that they’ll tell us?” Nowadays, is it going to be through social media? What is it that they are going to do so that we’ll know that mystery? Well, we will read here in Colossians, the chapter is 1. We’ll read from verses 28–29. It says this:
So we preach Christ to everyone. With all possible wisdom we warn and teach them in order to bring each one into God’s presence as a mature individual in union with Christ. To get this done I toil and struggle, using the mighty strength which Christ supplies and which is at work in me.
[Colossians 1:28–29 Good News Bible]
Brother Richie: The way that the word, the mystery, is given and taught to the brethren is by preaching. What is it that we read? It says that “we preach” to everyone. How is the preaching done? It says, “With all possible wisdom.” Why? It says, “We warn and [we] fteach.” What is the purpose? It says, “In order to bring each one into God’s presence as a mature individual in union with Christ.” For the Church Administration, what is it that they do in order to fulfill this? As we read, Apostle Paul said, “To get this done, I toil and struggle, using the mighty strength which Christ supplies and which is at work in me.”
We, members of the Church Of Christ, can attest that our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, is the same. We can see that toil and struggle. We can see how he continues to preach God’s words—not only to members; even to non-members, whatever the situation is. Even now, during this pandemic, we can see how it is still being administered through our video-conferencing. And we can also see very clearly he is using the wisdom that God has blessed him with, and with all clarity and power, we are able to understand the truth that is written in the Bible. What is his purpose? The same: so that everyone can be in union with our Lord Jesus Christ, have that spiritual maturity, and truly from the bottom of our hearts, we are so thankful that God is using him.
Brother Johnny: And Brother Richie, dear friends, there is no question at all that Brother Eduardo V. Manalo has courageously proclaimed the words of God to the members of the Church Of Christ and even non-members in the Philippines, in America, in different parts of the world. He has done that despite opposition and persecution from those outside the Church. He is sharing with us the message of the Lord recorded here in the Holy Bible. However, is it only the message of the Lord that he’s been willing to share with us? What else is our beloved Executive Minister ready to give for the members of the Church Of Christ?

Tomas and Conchita have been faithful members since 1996.
Tomas: (in Spanish) Two hours to leave the house and get to the place of worship.
Conchita; (in Spanish) We had faith that the Church Of Christ took care of us.
Tomas: (in Spanish) Here in Mexico it rains hard. There were times wherein throughout the course of going to the place of worship, the water got us.
Conchita: (in Spanish) We would arrive soaking wet. Thanks to God, nothing ever happened to us.

Brother Eduardo: Will you be there?
George: They cannot afford right now, but they are very happy that you go to visit our brethren in Mexico.
Brother Eduardo: (in Tagalog) Let’s help them. So they can get there.
Brother Eduardo: We will help you, so you can go there.
George: (in Spanish) They say that if you want to go, they will help you.
Brother Johnny: You know, there is no question, dear viewers, that our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, has bravely, courageously, proclaimed the words of God to the members of the Church Of Christ and even non-members in the Philippines, in America, and in different parts of the world.
And, you know, he’s done that despite opposition and persecution from those who are outside of the Church. He really wants to share with us the words of God recorded in the Holy Bible. However, is that the only thing that our beloved Executive Minister wants to share with us? Brother Richie, what is it that the Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ is ready and willing to share with the members of the Church?
Brother Richie: Brother Johnny, let me answer that question by reading what is recorded here in I Thessalonians chapter 2, the verse is 8. It says this:
Because of our love for you we were ready to share with you not only the Good News from God but even our own lives. You were so dear to us!
[I Thessalonians 2:8 Good News Bible]
Brother Richie: Well, here—just like Apostle Paul, how Apostle Paul—he shared not only the Good News to the members of the Church, but even his own life. It’s the same way, as the Executive Minister of the Church now, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. Why is it that he does that? Because it’s the same feeling. Because he really truly cares for us. We are so dear to him.
We really have a very great loving relationship with our Executive Minister, and the proof of that is we can see in the program, Blessed Moments. Blessed Moments is a segment that we can see on our website incmedia.org just like what we saw earlier, Brother Johnny.
Brother Johnny: That’s right, Brother Richie. Now, there’s no, there’s no doubt, Brother Richie, that our beloved Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, really loves, really cares about the members of the Church Of Christ. Now, motivated by the great love and care that he has for the members of the Church, how does he treat the members of the Church Of Christ?
Brother Richie: Brother Johnny, we can read the answer here, same book and chapter, I Thessalonians, chapter 2, but now we’re going to read verses 11–12, to see how the Church Administration really cares for the brethren. This is what it says:
You know that we treated each one of you just as a father treats his own children. We encouraged you, we comforted you, and we kept urging you to live the kind of life that pleases God, who calls you to share in his own Kingdom and glory.
[I Thessalonians 2:11–12 Good News Bible]
Brother Richie: Just like Apostle Paul, he mentioned he treated the members of the Church as a father treats his own children. In what way? It says, “We encouraged you, we comforted you, we kept urging you to live the kind of life that pleases God.” That is exactly how Brother Felix Y. Manalo—the Messenger of God in these last days, first Executive Minister of the Church—treated the brethren. Same as Brother Eraño G. Manalo, and the exact same way as our current Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. We can see that, especially now, how times are so much more difficult, maybe unprecedented, how we need that encouragement. We need God’s words. And we can see that it’s all equal treatment. Whatever status, or background, it doesn’t matter as long as one is a member of the Church, we receive that same love and comfort.
Brother Johnny: You know, Brother Richie and beloved friends, for the members of the Church Of Christ, or Iglesia Ni Cristo, we are very fortunate to have our Executive Minister. He patiently teaches us the words of God. He guides us to live as God expects of us. On the part of the members of the Church Of Christ, we don’t disregard God’s words that Brother Eduardo V. Manalo has taught to us. With all of our hearts, no reservations at all, we accept God’s message that he proclaims, and manifest that acceptance through our obedience to it.
And you know what, dear friends, what the reaction is of the Church Administrator to the wholehearted acceptance of the brethren to the words of God? Let’s find that out by reading what the Bible says here in I Thessalonians 2:13, and this is what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ have stated here:
And there is another reason why we always give thanks to God. When we brought you God’s message, you heard it and accepted it, not as a message from human beings but as God’s message, which indeed it is. For God is at work in you who believe.
[I Thessalonians 2:13 Good News Bible]
Brother Johnny: Dear friends, when the Executive Minister preaches to us, how do the members of the Church Of Christ regard that message he brings? As Apostle Paul said here, “When we brought you God’s message, you heard it and accepted it, not as a message from human beings but as God’s message, which indeed it is.”
You know, all around the world, the brethren remain responsive in their obedience to God’s message that Brother Eduardo V. Manalo preaches, which, by the way, it’s the same message that Brother Felix Y. Manalo preached to us. No different. So when the members of the Church Of Christ are united in following the words of God proclaimed to us, how does it make the Church Administrator feel? It makes him feel happy. It brings happiness to him. And so what does he do? Like Apostle Paul did and said right here, we always, we always, give thanks to God.
Brother Richie: And this positive manner of receiving God’s words on the part of the brethren—it means triumph of the Church Administration, and victory, and an unending parade of victories for the works of the Iglesia Ni Cristo for the glory of God. Such are the brethren who are one with the Church Administration.
Brother Johnny: So, dear viewers, on the occasion of the 11th Anniversary of his dynamic administration of the true Church Of Christ, we would like to say congratulations and happy anniversary to our beloved Brother Eduardo V. Manalo.
Brother Richie: It is our sincere hope and prayer that God will always grant him His blessings, so that he can keep on leading the Church Of Christ in service to our God.
Brother Johnny: So on behalf of Brother Richie and all the members of the Church Of Christ, we declare our conviction, our unwavering conviction: united we stand with our Executive Minister.
Well, dear friends, thank you very much for joining us today. We hope that you will continue to watch this and the other programs of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. Now before we go, please join us for a short prayer.
Brother Richie: Heavenly Father, our God, we approach You after we’ve been able to listen to Your words. And we are so thankful, dear Father, because Your words have reached us clearly. We can see how You use, truly, the Church Administration to bring to Your people Your true and clear teachings, dear Father. We praise You, and we truly do glorify Your most Holy Name.
Just as You instructed us here in our program through Your words, we pray for the Church Administration. We thank You so much, dear Father, for the administration You have entrusted Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ. We can clearly see the blessings, Your love and compassion, that You are giving Your people through him, dear God. We thank You for the years of protection. We thank You, dear Father, for all the success that You have given the Church through his leadership, dear God.
So we pray for him. Watch over him always, dear Father, continue to give him the best of health. Guide him and all those You are using to assist him. But especially we ask that You always send to him the guidance of Your Holy Spirit, the mystery of Your message, dear Father, that, in turn, he can preach it to us, dear God, and we can all prepare, truly, for the salvation You have promised Your people.
Also, as You instructed through Your words, we pray for the entire Church, for all of Your people, dear Father. Please continue to bless the Church Of Christ. Guide us with the pandemic that is happening, all the signs that you have already prophesied for the end to come, dear Father. Help us that we can all get ourselves ready, live our lives pleasing before You, dear Father, that we will be able to be one, united with the Church Administration under Your mercy and protection. We also are praying for those that are looking for the truth, or those, maybe, that are listening to this program, and even this prayer, dear Father. Please be merciful, give them the opportunity to be able to learn more of Your truth inside the Church Of Christ, that they will have the best possible opportunity to answer Your sacred call.
Our Lord Jesus Christ, we approach You because You are our only mediator to God. We beg you, dear Lord, bring to Him this prayer. Ask Him to forgive us of our sins, and help us that we can continue to remain under His love and His goodness.
Our God, we return to You in prayer. We believe that You not only are hearing us now, but You bless us, bless the entire Church, especially You bless our Executive Minister, Brother Eduardo V. Manalo. We pray for all these things, our God, all through the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
