Voiceover: So you’ve decided to study the Bible. Congratulations. This is a big step that can lead you to the future you’ve always imagined for yourself. You know, the words of God written in the Bible can open doors to answers to your questions about life. What is my life’s purpose? Why do bad things continue to happen? How do I build better relationships with my family? Is there a way out of my problems? How can I live a life of gratitude? Will they ever find happiness? What do I need for God to answer my prayers? What’s heaven like and how do I get there? And so much more.
Voiceover: But the next question. You’re probably asking yourself is, well, which Bible study do I attend? A quick search online and you’ll find so many different options for Bible studies. Group Bible studies, self-guided Bible studies, character Bible studies, Bible studies that study certain books of the Bible or Bible studies with personal storytelling, or Bible studies where you read one verse and share your own interpretation.
Voiceover: So it all goes back to what you want to get out of the Bible study. Are you just looking to read the Bible or are you looking to study and apply it to your life? Do you want the Bible to answer your questions or are you okay with someone interpreting what the Bible says for you?
Voiceover: In the Iglesia Ni Cristo or Church Of Christ, Bible studies follow a strict question and answer format so that you learn exactly what the Bible has to say.
Arthur Galicia (Joined the INC in 2016): What I found in the Church of Christ is that what they taught and/or preached was logical and it was understandable, and what they were teaching came straight from what they were reading out of the Holy Scriptures.
Jeremy Duchêne (Joined the INC in 2020): For a very long time I always asked myself the question, “Why am I here? Why was I born? For what reason? Do I have a goal?” I think these questions everyone asks throughout their lives. I think it’s something that everyone wonders about. And I was always searching for that truth. To know why I am here, for what reason? And I ended up finding the answers to these questions within the Church Of Christ.
Felix Somoza (Joined the INC in 2021): In the Church Of Christ, it’s all you’re going to hear is the commandments of God, which I’ve never heard before.
Elton Calipes (Joined the INC in 2020): What I saw was how willing the ministers will go to schedule out of their busy days to be with their Bible students and be with anyone who is genuinely interested into listening more of the lessons, and to schedule more Bible studies and again, to quote Scripture and to read from the Bible to answer all the questions that we may have had at that time.
Voiceover: This question and answer format is also done in the worship services in the Iglesia Ni Cristo, Church Of Christ. A question is asked and the Bible answers the question. No storytelling or personal interpretation. Just the Bible’s answer to the questions.
Voiceover: Well, you might be wondering, well, why is this important? And why do we keep emphasizing this format? And why do countless individuals who have been introduced to the Church Of Christ mention this as what made the difference in their studies? Well, because if you’re here looking to learn what the Bible says, wouldn’t you want the Bible’s answer to the questions you’re asking about life, God, heaven, and not what someone thinks the Bible is saying? Wouldn’t you want complete biblical truth and not just what they think you might want to hear?
Felix Somoza (Joined the INC in 2021): My belief back then was like everybody was going to heaven. My first Bible study I asked the minister, “What is salvation?” And then the minister told me that, “That [answer] should be biblical.” And he told me that, “There’s two deaths. One in the lake of fire. The person that invited you is trying to save you from the lake of fire.”
Voiceover: So let’s go back to why you decided to study the Bible in the first place. Are you looking for a Bible study to understand your life’s purpose? Are you looking to understand why the world is the way it is today? Are you wondering how you can get God’s answers to your prayers? Are you ready to learn what it takes to make it to heaven?
Voiceover: Then we invite you to try a Bible study in the Church Of Christ. They did, and they haven’t looked back since.
Naeim Oboudiyat (Joined the INC in 2022): I would say the one main thing I found in the Church Of Christ that I couldn’t find anywhere else is they actually used the teachings, the words in the Bible. So whenever they teach something, they always said a Bible verse before they start talking about it. Something that when I went to other churches, they didn’t really do.
Mary Guevarra (Joined the INC in 2020): I would have a lot of questions and I’d go into a Bible study ready to ask a question. And somehow, whatever Bible study it was, it was almost as if God was talking through him and giving me my answers without even having to ask the question, which kept telling me in my head, this is the greatest choice I’ve ever made. I’m learning something here. I want to be here. I’m so happy I made this choice.
Voiceover: You’ve already made the big decision to learn more about the Bible. So why not go one step further and attend a Bible study where you can experience how God’s words can change your life?
