Sharing Meals with Neighbors and Quality Time With Seniors
Taylor Joy: Hi friends! With every INC Giving Project I have been seeing so much happiness, positivity, community. When you do good for others, have you noticed how
much good it does for you?
Taylor Joy: Well, let’s get this week’s INC Giving recap started and keep these good feelings rolling. Our first stop is a firefighter appreciation activity in San Gabriel Valley, California.
Taylor Joy: INC Giving Volunteers came together to honor and appreciate the brave firefighters of the West Covina and Baldwin Park Fire Departments.
Brother Armando Mañalac: What you do, what you do for our community is so amazing. That’s why we in the Church Of Christ, Iglesia Ni Cristo, we would like to say thank you so much. You’re heroes in our community.
Jim Rudroff: In a time where people are so separated and so alone, it’s refreshing to see this type of change coming together—your community come together, meeting our community, and then helping the whole neighborhood community in general.
Taylor Joy: This is so heartwarming. Firefighters really are heroes in our communities, and it was great to see how the INC Giving Project warmed the hearts of both the recipients and volunteers.
Taylor Joy: Next up, we’re heading “down under” to Palmerston City, Australia for a cleanup drive. One volunteer shared, “Our local congregation came together for a fantastic cleanup drive as part of the INC Giving Project. It was heartwarming to see everyone working hand in hand to beautify our community and to make it a better place for all.”
Taylor Joy: And over in American Samoa, volunteers headed to Lions Park with gloves and trash bags to do a coastal cleanup. Hopefully, the location brought out the lion in all of them as they cleaned with raw power and strength. Hear them roar. A friendly roar.
Taylor Joy: Looks like we’re beach hopping because our next stop is Anping Beach in Taiwan South, another INC Giving Coastal Cleanup. Volunteers did their part to raise
awareness about proper recycling, waste management and environmental responsibility. Great work!
Taylor Joy: Hitting the streets now, INC Giving Volunteers swept and cleaned in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City. Another huge group of volunteers in Alcoy, Cebu. And in Quezon City, we can see that this INC Giving Activity made this school beautiful. I mean, check out all of these bright balloons!
Taylor Joy: But it’s not just balloons that were shared, in this INC Giving Activity, volunteers donated school supplies and provided meals for the students. Amazing work to help these young learners get the most out of their education.
Taylor Joy: Our next stop is Cincinnati, Ohio, where volunteers spent a beautiful day outdoors handing out free donuts! Remember, your vitamin D is very important. If D stands for donuts.
Taylor Joy: *sighs* It really can’t get much better than this. Oh, wait…It can! They had coffee too!
Taylor Joy: Hmm…Where to next? Oh, San Ildefonso, Bulacan, Philippines. Motorists and shop personnel along the National Highway were on the go, and they received some free food to go! Yes, please!
Taylor Joy: This gesture of kindness featured INC Giving Volunteers serving some yummy “goto,” which is a Filipino version of congee that contains ox tripe. Mmm, goto… is goto your go to? Get it? Like go to…but it’s goto, so it’s go to…You know that one sounded a little bit better in my head. Moving on!
Taylor Joy: More stomachs and hearts were filled in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.
INC Giving Volunteer: Hi.
Community Member: Salamat (Thank you) po!
Taylor Joy: Volunteers from San Roque handed out free “almusal” or breakfast. And a bonus— they also gave out some free clothes to the community.
Taylor Joy: Our next stop Inhobol, Zambales North. Volunteers gave out free pandesal or Filipino bread rolls and free porridge, which I think is like goto but no tripe. The super cool thing is they hoste this INC Giving activity on a Tuesday…at 6 in the morning!
Taylor Joy: Yep, they wanted to give out a simple breakfast to passersby before they all headed to their jobs and other activities. Must feel really good to head to work after sharing acts of kindness like this. Way to go!
Taylor Joy: We head on over to Canada now where INC Giving Volunteers in Rouge Park, Eastern Ontario, the INC Giving Volunteers gifted them care packages with basic necessities for their daily lives.
Taylor Joy: It’s also nice when we can connect with seniors through song. In Millwoods, in Edmonton, Canada, INC Giving Volunteers held a ‘Singing For A Cause’ activity in Ottewell Place Seniors Home.
Taylor Joy: Next, let’s head over to Saskatchewan. INC Giving Volunteers in Prince Albert and Lloydminster, held cleanup drives to show their love for their neighborhoods. And since they’re Canadian, let’s add a letter ‘u’ to ‘neighbourhood.’ Come to think of it, the letter ‘u’ kind of looks like a smile. Hmm. Maybe that’s why Canadians always seem so happy.
Taylor Joy: Thanks everyone, for inspiring us with the amazing acts of kindness you did this week. You definitely did so much good and I know it made you feel good too.
Taylor Joy: Please visit incgiving.org and keep submitting your stories. You’ll also find tools and updates, and you can also catch up on any weekly recaps that you might have missed.
Taylor Joy: Remember whenever you possibly can, do good to those who need it. Catch you next week! Bye for now.
Taylor Joy: Now where can I get some goto around here?
