Reminders from the Bible when you’re feeling lost and confused
Lately, I’m starting to crave pep talks.
Before affirmations became a thing, I was already pretty good at being my own “hype person.” I didn’t stand in front of a mirror and talk to myself or anything, but I did repeat positive reminders to myself whenever I needed it.
But now, whenever I’m feeling lost and confused, I seek out pep talks. Now, hear me out. I know people have their own limitations, so even a pep talk from a well-meaning friend or a family member can have its drawbacks. But these days, we can’t help it.
Is everyone feeling this? (Asking for a friend.)
As we face the start of another year, many of us are anxious and feeling uneasy about the future. We’re trying to navigate so many unknowns that we have to face — the ongoing pandemic and its long term effects on our health, job loss,
and soaring gas prices that are hurting so many people.
Now, just like you, I’ve gone through times when I felt lost, and quite recently, like many people, I’ve also faced my own struggles throughout this pandemic. But no matter how bleak it got, God’s words continue to guide and direct my life.
As Christians, we have access to the best pep talk there is — God’s teachings. If you ever need a pick-me-up or a reminder that your life will take shape the way it’s meant to, trust God to guide you. Remember, you don’t have to figure out everything on your own. God’s got everything under control.
5 Verses that Remind Me That God Directs My Path
Whenever I feel uneasy about the future (and who isn’t these days), I reflect on the Bible verses I’ve heard in the worship services in the Church Of Christ about letting God guide my path. And thanks to the Verse of the Week videos from INC Media I can play (and replay) them whenever I need a quick reminder.
1. Proverbs 3:5-6 The Message:
“Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.”
2. Philippians 4:6 & 19 Last Days Bible
“So never allow yourselves to get uptight and anxiously concerned about anything. But in every situation, you must earnestly continue to plead with God in prayer about your problem and the needs you have. And be sure to thank Him for the way He will work everything out, for His great interest in you, and for His many blessings of both the past and present. … And because of your generosity, my God will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which are available to you through Christ Jesus.”
3. I Peter 5:7 Good News Bible:
“Leave all your worries with him, because he cares for you.”
4. James 1:5 The Message:
“If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get his help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it.”
5. I Peter 4:12-13 The Message:
“Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.”
Let God’s words start your day
There are tons of research which shows that the way we think and talk to ourselves in our minds massively affects our mindset and attitude. What if we let God’s words shape our thoughts? What if we remind ourselves about what God can do for us, at the very start of our day? We’ll be able to silence our doubts and anxious thoughts before they can take over our minds.
