Thato Mothibi: Hi there! Thank you for joining us for today’s event. I’m sure you have a lot of questions right now and I promise we’ll get to those in a few minutes. But first, let me introduce myself.
My name is Thato Mothibi from Ladybrand South Africa… I’m currently a Psychology student at Cornerstone Institute and a member of the Church Of Christ.
Voiceover: Joining the Church Of Christ has been life-changing for me. As a young person living in South Africa it’s easy to get distracted. I see so many people engaging in vices every day on social media. But thankfully in the Church Of Christ, I’ve found a sense of purpose and meaning that keeps me focused…which isn’t always easy being a young person.
Thato: I’ll tell you more about that later. But for now I want to help you get more familiar with the Church Of Christ. Answer a few questions and give you some idea of what to expect.
Voiceover: During these Bible studies there is a lesson. The minister will ask questions and read the answers straight from the Bible. If you’ve been to Bible studies in other Churches this might seem different to you. But this format helps ensure that what you learn during the Bible study is in fact from the Bible.
No storytelling.
No “read one verse” and then just singing and dancing.
Just the words of God read straight from the Bible.
Thato: Our worship services also follow a similar question and answer format. I remember the first time I attended the worship service, I got goosebumps.The message of the hymns were so beautiful and it was the first time I truly felt the power of the Holy Spirit.
Voiceover: It was also very orderly. The men or the brothers sit on one side while the sisters or women sit on the other side. I wanted to know more about this Church and why they had such high regard for their worship… so I kept attending and I started attending the Bible studies.
Thato: The Bible studies taught me so much. I learned that the Bible talks about one true Church. I learned about the Messenger of God in these last days and I learned what I needed to do to live a life that was pleasing to God.
Voiceover: It’s been 9 years since I attended my first worship service. I’m now a choir member, CWS watcher and I am undergoing CWS teacher classes. I also talk about the Church Of Christ every chance I get.
I share our Bible study locations, Evangelical mission invites, and God’s Message Magazines. I also share activities I see with other locals on social media. I invited my mom to listen too. She’s a Bible student now and attends worship service with me. That’s her right there. I am proud of everything the church has accomplished thus far. Not only can you find congregations here in South Africa but all throughout Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
Thato: Which is why I was so excited when I was invited to speak to you in this video. I want more people here in my country to get to know the truth I have found in the Church Of Christ because it has completely changed my life.
Voiceover: Prayer has become the center of my life. Every time I walk into the house of worship overwhelmed and feeling like I carried the world on my shoulders I always leave knowing I could face any hardship because our Lord God is on my side.
Thato: I am now confident that everything I want to achieve in this life is possible with the help and guidance of our Almighty God.
That feeling right there, that feeling that I don’t have to face the world alone, that feeling that God is with me every step of the way. It’s a feeling I want you to experience too. So if you have questions I encourage you to ask them.
