Por qué necesitamos la Verdadera Iglesia
Hermano Ezekiel Silva: Es una creencia común en muchas organizaciones religiosas que una persona sólo necesita creer o tener fe en Jesucristo y aceptarlo como su Salvador personal para ser salvo. Según ellos, la membresía o pertenencia a la Iglesia no es necesaria. Creen que la salvación se puede lograr no por siendo miembro de una iglesia, sino por medio de tener una relación personal con Jesucristo. ¿Necesitamos a la verdadera Iglesia para ser salvos? Lo averiguaremos en este episodio de El Mensaje.

Hermano Ezekiel Silva: Bienvenidos a El Mensaje, un programa presentado por la Iglesia De Cristo. Este programa tiene como objetivo responder preguntas relacionadas con la religión. Soy el Hermano Ezekiel Silva.
Ahora bien, tú también puedes ser uno de los que se hacen estas preguntas: ¿Cuál es la verdadera Iglesia? ¿Quién necesita la verdadera Iglesia para ser salvo? También hay aquellos que creen que la membresía o pertenencia a la Iglesia también es importante. Pero también dicen que no importa a qué iglesia pertenezca una persona mientras que crea en Dios. Al hacer esto, muchas personas creen que cuando puedan realizar obras en el nombre de Jesús, serán aceptados y entrarán en el reino de Dios.
¿Es suficiente rendir cualquier servicio a Dios en el nombre de Jesús? De acuerdo con nuestro Señor Jesucristo, ¿serán aceptables todos los servicios que las personas rindan en Su nombre y todas las personas que rindan servicios en Su nombre podrán entrar en el cielo? Leamos lo que dice nuestro mismo Salvador Jesús, escrito en Mateo 7:21-23 (Dios Habla Hoy):
»No todos los que me dicen: “Señor, Señor”, entrarán en el reino de los cielos, sino solamente los que hacen la voluntad de mi Padre celestial. Aquel día muchos me dirán: “Señor, Señor, nosotros comunicamos mensajes en tu nombre, y en tu nombre expulsamos demonios, y en tu nombre hicimos muchos milagros.” Pero entonces les contestaré: “Nunca los conocí; ¡aléjense de mí, malhechores!”

Hermano Ezekiel: Nuestro Señor Jesús mismo atestigua que no todas las personas serán fácilmente aceptadas, incluso si predican, expulsan demonios o realizan milagros en Su nombre. No irán al cielo. De hecho, serán rechazados. ¿Todos los predicadores son verdaderos? ¿Acaso Dios los envió a todos? Esta es la respuesta de nuestro Señor Jesús. En Mateo 24:5, 24 (Dios Habla Hoy), esto es lo que está escrito:
Porque vendrán muchos haciéndose pasar por mí. Dirán: “Yo soy el Mesías”, y engañarán a mucha gente
Porque vendrán falsos mesías y falsos profetas; y harán grandes señales y milagros, para engañar, a ser posible, hasta a los que Dios mismo ha escogido.

Hermano Ezekiel: Debemos ser conscientes de que no todos los predicadores provienen de Dios. Hay falsos predicadores. Los falsos predicadores sólo llevarán a las personas a su destrucción en lugar de a la salvación. Otros dirán que pueden ver la devoción en sus líderes religiosos. También son testigos de la dedicación de sus miembros en su religión.
¿Eso prueba que han encontrado la religión correcta? Esta es la respuesta de la Biblia. Escuchen por favor en Romanos 10:2-3 (Dios Habla Hoy):
En su favor puedo decir que tienen un gran deseo de servir a Dios; sólo que ese deseo no está basado en el verdadero conocimiento. Pues no reconocen que es Dios quien hace justos a los hombres, y pretenden ser justos por sí mismos; y así no se han sometido a lo que Dios estableció para hacernos justos.

Hermano Ezekiel: La Biblia atestigua que hay personas que son profundamente devotas o tienen un gran deseo de servir a Dios pero su devoción o deseo no está basado en el verdadero conocimiento; no son capaces de agradar a Dios. Han tratado de establecer su propio camino. No se sometieron ‘a lo que Dios estableció para hacernos justos’.
Ahora, averigüemos cómo nuestros servicios pueden ser aceptables, porque queremos que nuestro servicio al Señor se considere digno. ¿Qué se necesita para que seamos aceptables a Dios y a nuestro Salvador Jesucristo? Esta es la explicación de la Biblia misma, que se puede leer en Romanos 5:8-9 (Nueva Versión Internacional):
Pero Dios demuestra su amor por nosotros en esto: en que cuando todavía éramos pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros. Y ahora que hemos sido justificados por su sangre, ¡con cuánta más razón, por medio de él, seremos salvados del castigo de Dios!

Hermano Ezekiel: Según lo que leímos, las personas primero deben ser perdonadas de sus pecados o justificadas. Cuando decimos perdonados de sus pecados o justificados, esto equivale a ser hechos justos ante los ojos de Dios. ¿Cómo puede una persona ser justificada y perdonada de sus pecados? La Biblia nos lo dejó claro: es a través de la sangre de Jesucristo. ¿Y qué fue redimido por la sangre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo?
Permítanme a leerles lo que dice la Santa Biblia. Esto es lo que se puede leer en Hechos 20:28 (Lamsa traducido al español):
Por tanto, tengan cuidado de ustedes mismos, y de todo el rebaño sobre el cual los ha puesto el espíritu santo como supervisores para apacentar la iglesia de Cristo, la cual Él compró con su sangre,

Hermano Ezekiel: Por lo tanto, la Iglesia De Cristo es lo que nuestro Señor Jesús compró o redimió con Su sangre. Si una persona está en la Iglesia De Cristo, no sólo es perdonada de sus pecados, sino que también ha obtenido el derecho de servir a Dios. Aquella persona que forma parte de la Iglesia De Cristo es también aquella a quien nuestro Salvador le garantiza a entrar en el cielo. Por lo tanto, no es suficiente de simplemente de creer o tener fe en Jesús y aceptarlo como Salvador personal.
Es cierto que es importante tener una relación con Jesús. Pero la gente debe seguir lo que la Biblia enseña para tener esa relación con Él. Según las enseñanzas de la Biblia, aunque es importante tener fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo, también es importante de ser miembro de la verdadera Iglesia. La Biblia enseña que la gente debe pertenecer a la Iglesia De Cristo. E incluso ahora, la Iglesia De Cristo continúa expandiéndose a nuevos países y nuevas ubicaciones para satisfacer las necesidades de aquellos que buscan la verdad dentro de la Biblia. Al igual que en las islas del Caribe, donde una historia asombrosa de cómo, incluso en sus áreas más remotas, podemos ver cómo la verdadera fe cambia vidas para mejor a través de uno de nuestros programas en español, Iglesia De Cristo Mundo.

La pandemia, el malestar social continuo, asolado por desastres y calamidades como en Hispaniola, la isla conocida que abarca Haití y República Dominicana que en este año ya ha pasado por inundaciones, terremotos masivos, y la destrucción de viviendas y el empeoramiento de las condiciones de la vida de su gente, ha alertado a las personas en el deseo de paz, esperanza y una vida mejor.
Como Edouard, un ex pastor de la Iglesia Pentecostal que creía saber la verdad, pero viajar desde las remotas montañas de Los Cacaos en Haití a La Romana y Santo Domingo, República Dominicana debido a una emergencia familiar, cambiaría su vida para lo mejor.
Edouard Alcide: (en criollo) A través de mi primo [en la República Dominicana] quien me ayudó a encontrar la [Iglesia De Cristo]. Ella tenía un hermano enfermo en Haití y después de que viajé a la República Dominicana para verla, dirigía como pastor a otra iglesia, pero cuando me presentaron a la Iglesia De Cristo, creí en lo que escuché.
Narradora: Fue aquí en Santo Domingo donde Edouard no solo aprendió sobre la verdadera fe, sino que incluso conoció a otros como él que también fueron invitados a escuchar las enseñanzas de la Iglesia De Cristo y abandonar sus antiguas religiones debido al profundo mensaje que recibieron. Luego, recibieron el verdadero bautismo.

Y esto que Dios me mueve, me conmueve a continuar siendo, queriendo continuar siendo miembro de la Iglesia De Cristo, porque hay una gran hermandad y fraternidad que se deja concerniente ver de que es un hogar, una iglesia en la cual podemos tener seguridad de que en Cristo.

Narradora: Esto ahora se convirtió en la prioridad de Edouard. Llevar la verdadera fe a su hogar en Los Cacaos. Al preguntarle al ministro del evangelio, el Hermano Jerry Parocha, le tomaría casi cinco horas viajar solo de ida y cruzar la frontera para llegar a su pueblo. El reciente terremoto e inundaciones en curso aumentarían el peligro, pero esto no impidió que la verdad llegara a Los Cacaos, ya que no solo se están realizando estudios bíblicos en la región montañosa, sino que también llevan a la Iglesia De Cristo a hacer un nuevo hogar en Haití.

Narradora: Un viaje para Edouard y otros en su pueblo para aprender la verdadera fe y recibir el verdadero bautismo. Con un servicio de adoración especial llevado a cabo en Los Cacaos, fueron los ministros del evangelio dentro de la Iglesia De Cristo quienes dirigieron el bautismo de aquellos que han aceptado la verdadera fe para convertirse en miembros de la Iglesia De Cristo.

Now, you may also be one of those who ask these questions: Which is the true Church? Who needs the true Church in order to be saved? There are also those who believe that membership or belonging to the Church is also important. But, they also say that it doesn’t matter which church a person may belong to as long as a person believes in God. In doing this, many people believe that when they are able to perform deeds in the name of Jesus, they will be accepted and will enter the kingdom of God.
Is it enough to render just any service to God in the name of Jesus? Brother Ezekiel: Our Lord Jesus Himself attests that not all people will be readily accepted, even if they preach, expel demons, or perform miracles in His name. They will not go to heaven. In fact, they will be rejected.
Are all preachers true? Did God send them all? This is the answer of our Lord Jesus.
In Matthew 24:5, 24 (The Message), this is recorded:
Many leaders are going to show up with forged identities, claiming, ‘I am Christ, the Messiah.’ They will deceive a lot of people.
Fake Messiahs and lying preachers are going to pop up everywhere. Their impressive credentials and dazzling performances will pull the wool over the eyes of even those who ought to know better.

Brother Ezekiel: We should be aware that not all preachers come from God. There are false preachers. False preachers will only lead people to their destruction instead of salvation. Others will say they can see the devotion in their religious leaders. They are also witnesses to the dedication of their members in their religion. Does that prove that they have found the right religion? This is the answer of the Bible. Please listen to Romans 10:2-3 (Good News Translation):
I can assure you that they are deeply devoted to God; but their devotion is not based on true knowledge. They have not known the way in which God puts people right with himself, and instead, they have tried to set up their own way; and so they did not submit themselves to God’s way of putting people right.

Brother Ezekiel: The Bible attests that there are people who are deeply devoted to God but their devotion is not based on true knowledge; they are not able to please God. They have tried to set up their own way. They did not follow ‘God’s way of putting people right.’
Now, let us find out how our services can be acceptable, because we want our service to the Lord to be deemed worthy. What is needed, so we may be acceptable to God and to our Savior Jesus Christ? This is the explanation of the Bible itself, which can be read in Romans 5:8-9 (New International Version):
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

Brother Ezekiel: Based on what we read, people need to be first forgiven of their sins or justified. When we say forgiven of their sins or justified, it is the equivalent of being made righteous in the sight of God. How can a person be justified and forgiven of their sins? The Bible made it clear to us: it is through the blood of Jesus Christ.
And, what was redeemed by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ? Allow me to read to you what the Holy Bible says. This is what can be read in Acts 20:28 (Lamsa):
Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to feed the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood.

Brother Ezekiel: Therefore, the Church Of Christ is what our Lord Jesus purchased or redeemed through His blood.If a person is in the Church Of Christ, not only is he forgiven of his sins, but he has also obtained the right to serve God. That person who becomes part of the Church Of Christ is also the one whom our Savior guarantees to enter heaven.Therefore, it is not enough to just believe in Jesus and accept Him as a personal Savior. True, it is important to have a relationship with Jesus. But people must follow what the Bible teaches to have that relationship with Him. According to the teachings of the Bible, though it is important to have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, it is also important to be a member of the true Church. The Bible teaches that people should belong to the Church Of Christ.
And even now, the Church Of Christ continues to expand to new countries and new locations in order to meet the needs of those seeking the truth inside the Bible. Just like in the Caribbean islands where an amazing story of how, even in its most remote areas, we can see how the true faith changes lives for the better through one of our Spanish programs, “Iglesia De Cristo Mundo.”

The pandemic, ongoing social unrest, stricken with disasters and calamities like in Hispaniola, the well-known island comprising Haiti and the Dominican Republic that already experienced this year massive floods, earthquakes destroying homes and worsening the living conditions for its people has alerted people in wanting peace, hope and a better life.
Like Edouard, a former pastor in the Pentecostal Church who thought he knew the truth, but traveling from the remote mountains of Los Cacaos in Haiti to La Romana and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic due to a family emergency, would change his life for the better.
Edouard Alcide: (in Creole) Through my cousin [in the Dominican Republic] who helped me find the [Church Of Christ]. She had a sick brother in Haiti and after I traveled to the Dominican Republic to see her, I was leading as pastor over another church, but when I was introduced to the Church Of Christ, I believed in what I heard.
Narrator: It was here in Santo Domingo where Edouard would not only learn about the true faith, but even meet others like him who also were invited to listen to the teachings taught in the Church Of Christ and leave their former religions because of the profound message they received. Later, they received the true baptism.
Zackari Saint-Nellien: (in Creole) I used to be part of the Baptist faith. Brother Gabriel invited me and he is already a member of the Church Of Christ. He invited me to participate and then I accepted all the doctrines by believing them through my love for them by always obeying them.
Ramon: (in Spanish) There is a lot of joy and a lot of effort, a lot of fellowship. And this that God moves me, moves me to continue being, wanting to continue being a member of the Church Of Christ, because there is a great brotherhood and fraternity that remains regarding seeing that it is a home, a church in which we can have assurance that is in Christ.
Zackari Saint-Nellien: (in Creole) I have to go share these true teachings I have received in the Church Of Christ so that I can help others understand until they become a member of the Church Of Christ and receive the true baptism.
Narrator: This now became the priority of Edouard. To bring the true faith to his home in Los Cacaos. Upon asking the minister of the gospel, Brother Jerry Parocha, it would take almost five hours traveling just one way and crossing the border to get to his village. The recent earthquake and ongoing floods would add to the danger, but this didn’t stop the truth from arriving in Los Cacaos with not only Bible studies now being done in the mountain region but leading to the Church Of Christ making a new home in Haiti.
Edouard Alcide: (in Creole) I feel very good because for the first time I see a Church conducting the true baptism like that, it’s different from other churches.
Narrator: A journey for Edouard and others in his village in learning the true faith and receiving the true baptism. With a special worship service held in Los Cacaos, it was ministers of the gospel inside the Church Of Christ who led in baptizing those who have accepted the true faith to become members of the true Church Of Christ.
