Presentadora: El lenguaje es una herramienta poderosa. Puede construir tanto puentes como barreras. Aparte de los servicios de adoración que se están llevando a cabo actualmente en lugares como España y América Latina, la Iglesia De Cristo ha comenzado a realizar servicios de adoración y estudios bíblicos en español en comunidades que tienen una gran población de hispanohablantes. Communities como Napa Valley, California y Shoshoni, Wyoming, ambos forman parte del Distrito Eclesiástico del Noroeste de California.
Miguel Martinez: En inglés, yo me pierdo, entiendo la mitad y la mitad, ¿no? O sea, no, pues no hay aprendizaje.
Presentadora: Encontrar una iglesia que realmente te hable puede ser todo un desafío, especialmente si sus miembros no hablan tu idioma.
Yvette: Pero también eso causó mucho conflicto, porque nadie estaba en la misma página. La importancia de tener servicio en español es porque así logra más con la comunidad, la comunidad latina.
Minerva: Pues este primer servicio que fue en español, es muy excelente. Me encantó, le entendí perfectamente al 100, y este y estuvo muy, muy bonito.
Miguel: Me sentí muy bien en un servicio en español porque creo que cuando un alumno quiere aprender, necesita entenderlo en su lenguaje, sin que haya un mediador, un intérprete. Tiene que ser directo el mensaje para que sea emotivo.
Samantha López: El idioma nos es un poquito complicado el entender que aún así este los hermanos nos han facilitado porque nos dan el estudio y una partes en español para que nosotros podamos entender.
Eva Diaz: La verdad me siento contenta y me siento muy bien porque en español es nuestra lengua, de nosotros la nativa. El inglés no lo hablamos. Entendemos algunas palabras, pero en español es el mejor. Les agradezco que se hayan tomado esa molestia de hacerlo así, porque mis compañeros están igual que yo. Entonces ahora entendemos más.
Samantha: Ahora sí que tener la presencia del servicio aquí y más en español—se siente una plenitud recibir a Dios por completo.
Yvette: Yo quiero que mis amigos, mis vecinos, la gente que no conozco, toda la comunidad latina que tengan esa experiencia que yo tuve el día que yo entré por esas puertas, esa alegría.

Listening to the words of God in your own language
Presentadora: Language is a powerful tool. It can build both bridges and barriers. Aside from the worship services currently being held in places like Spain and Latin America, the Church of Christ has begun holding worship services and Bible studies in Spanish in communities that have a large Spanish-speaking population. Communities like Napa Valley, California y Shoshoni, Wyoming, both part of the ecclesiastical District of Northwest California.
Miguel Martinez: In English, I get lost, I understand half and half, right? In other words, no, there is no learning.
Presentadora: Finding a church that really speaks to you can be quite the challenge, especially if their members don’t speak your language.
Yvette: But that also caused a lot of conflict, because no one was on the same page.
Minerva: Well, this first service, which was in Spanish, is very excellent. I loved it, I understood this 100 percent perfectly and it was very, very good.
Miguel: I felt very good about a service in Spanish because I believe that when a student wants to learn, they need to understand it in their language, without there being a mediator, an interpreter. The message has to be direct for it to be emotional.
Samantha López: The [English] language is a little difficult for us to understand, even so, the brothers have made it easier for us because they give us the study and some parts in Spanish so that we can understand.
Eva Diaz: The truth is that I feel happy and I feel very good because Spanish is our language, ours is the native language. We don’t speak English. We understand some words, but Spanish is the best. I thank you for taking the trouble to do it like this, because my colleagues are just like me. So now we understand more.
Samantha: Having the presence of the [worship] service here in Spanish—there is a feeling of fullness to receiving God’s [words] completely.
Yvette: I want my friends, my neighbors, people I don’t know, the entire Latino community to have the experience that I had the day I walked through those doors, that joy.
