Community Outreach to Serve Low-Income and Homeless Population; 5 L.A. Organizations to be Recognized During 8th Stop of Aid to Humanity U.S. Tour
WHAT: 5,000 free care packages of nonperishable food and household items, along with free school supplies, medical and vision screenings, dental kits, and reading glasses will be among the services available to all residents and families in Los Angeles’ downtown and south regions, during an Aid to Humanity community outreach of the Felix Y. Manalo (FYM) Foundation, Inc., the charitable institution of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church of Christ).
Five organizations will also be recognized and gifted monetary donations from the FYM Foundation to support the region’s community programs, including UCLA’s Mobile Clinic Project, Para Los Ninos Family, Uplift Family Services, Gateway to Success and Los Angeles Trade Technical Community College.
Data estimates that L.A. County has on average the highest child poverty rate in California. And with Southern California’s housing crisis increasing the County’s homeless population, the Aid to Humanity event hopes to provide not only immediate relief but longer-term support through local organizations that Los Angeles families rely on for emergency aid and ongoing access to resources for educational growth and homelessness prevention.
All community members are welcome to attend the Aid to Humanity event to benefit from the free services, entertainment, and family activities.
Los Angeles is only one of nine regions in the U.S. to receive Aid to Humanity from the FYM Foundation this month, as part of its global aim to provide an opportunity for those most in need and contribute to supporting peaceful and productive communities.

Felix Y. Manalo Foundation (FYM), Inc. is a socio-civic platform of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ). The Aid to Humanity event series earlier this year toured Canada, serving thousands and assisting 36 local organizations. Other current projects include eco-farming in Africa and the distribution of basic supplies to residents of favelas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Volunteers of the foundation also offer relief aid in the aftermath of natural calamities, such as hurricanes and earthquakes in the Philippines and other disaster-stricken areas.
