Michael Robinson: Various religions are on the decline. A Pew Research report states that and this year alone, 15,000 churches could close in the United States. But in Texas, the growth of the true faith has resulted in the need for more worship buildings, the most recent of which is a chapel in Sugar Land, Texas. Let’s go to Myrtle Alegado for the story.
Myrtle Alegado: A significant moment for the Church Of Christ in Texas with a newly acquired worship building in the city of Alvin. Purchased recently from Grace Christian Church of Alvin, Texas. This chapel sits on five acres of land and currently accommodates 250 has a baptismal pool along with several office spaces. Approximately 30 miles from Houston, Alvin is a city known for its agricultural roots and oil was discovered in this area in the 1930s. With the Church Of Christ having a presence in the Houston area for 25 years, more and more people in the surrounding cities have also discovered the true faith. As membership has grown here, so too has the need to find a fitting and permanent place of worship for members from Sugar Land.
Salvador Biazon: We did our devotional prayer. We drive all around the neighborhood almost every week just to find property. And I think one day, I just found this property, and right away, I messaged our resident minister. We contacted the realtor. That’s the start of the negotiation process for acquiring this property.
Myrtle Alegado: And the members here were overjoyed to reach this momentous milestone, marking not only a time of celebration, but also new opportunities for continued growth, both as a congregation and in faith.
Edward Pingol: And finally, we were able to find this place, and today we were able to close the deal. And finally, we have this house of worship at this very moment.
Brother Ricky Bravo: When the brethren heard about the decision of the Church Administration that they approved the purchase of the property. The brethren were so glad and so excited.
Brother Noel Caritativo: Today, the Church was able to finalize the purchase. And as we can see the brethren in Sugar Land are so happy that they now have their own permanent house of worship.
Myrtle Alegado: Members here wait in eager anticipation for the renovations of this worship building to begin as they will be able to continue on in true service to God once this chapel is dedicated to Him.
Brother Noel Caritativo: We would like to thank our Almighty God and the Church Administration, especially our beloved Executive Minister, brother Eduardo V. Manalo, for remembering the brethren here in our district, particularly the brethren here in the local congregation of Sugar Land, as well as the Lake Jackson group of worship service.
Edward Pingol: We will love this place, and we would like to thank, of course, the Church Administration for granting us one of the magnificent property like this.
Myrtle Alegado: The purchase of this worship building inspires all Church Of Christ members in Sugar Land and throughout Texas. Standing as a symbol of hope and proof of God’s unwavering love to his people. Myrtle Alegado for the Iglesia Ni Cristo News Network.
