Taylor Joy: We see you, and you, and you, and you…
Taylor Joy: All of you amazing INC Giving Volunteers who are sharing the wonderful ways that all of you are giving back to your communities. I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to. It’s INC giving recap time in 3, 2, 1…
Taylor Joy: Teachers give so much of their time to shaping young minds, so it’s only appropriate that they be thanked and recognized.
Taylor Joy: And that’s exactly what happened in Anchorage, Alaska, where children invited their teachers to enjoy some musical performances and receive care packages, as well as certificates of recognition.
Taylor Joy: Did you have a favorite teacher growing up? Mine was Mrs. Linden.
Taylor Joy: Staying with the theme of education, The Blue Rizal Manhain Elementary School thanked the members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo or Church Of Christ from Tanay, Philippines for their contributions towards dental health and school meal programs.
Taylor Joy: Now those children surely have more reasons to smile. Blood donation drives continue to be an important INC Giving Project that is seen taking place all around the world.
Taylor Joy: Just look at all of these wonderful donors in Maseru, Lesotho. Well done, everyone. And if you haven’t yet, maybe consider donating at a local clinic near you. It just might save a life.
Taylor Joy: From Africa, we’re heading over to Spain, where brooms, dust pans and trash bags were put to good use in a cleanup drive. You know, It already looks so clean but thank you to these volunteers for keeping the Las Palmas area even more spotless.
Taylor Joy: *Sighs* How I would love to go to Spain one day.
Taylor Joy: A community cleanup was held in different parts of Rome, Italy, where INC Giving Volunteers took to the streets to pick up various types of debris and rubbish.
Taylor Joy: Showing kindness by caring for your environment is for sure one way to positively impact your neighborhood and community. And hey, with all of these INC Giving shirts filling the streets, it’s hard not to notice this collective effort. Have you participated in a cleanup drive?
Taylor Joy: This time we’ve got a coastal cleanup held under beautiful blue skies
and fluffy white clouds. I think I would have loved participating in this project and it looks like these brethren from Janopol in Tanauan City, Philippines did too.
Taylor Joy: Okay, this has got to be one of the coolest places to hold a neighborhood appreciation day. Free coffee, arroz caldo or rice porridge, tinapay or bread and pens drew in a large crowd to the old Bacolod airport runway.
Taylor Joy: Do you see all of those people smiling and enjoying snacks together? Totally looks like it was a lot of fun.
Taylor Joy: More rice porridge was shared in Talavera, Nueva Ecija. Look at that, even motorists and commuters were able to enjoy a warm snack while on the road.
Taylor Joy: Something about rice porridge really brings people and the community together. Not only warming our bellies, but our hearts, too.
Taylor Joy: Now, this is something I never thought to share with my neighbors but why not? Free dishwashing liquid was handed out to residents in Tondo, Manila, and look how nicely packaged they were. If you can help alleviate the cost of some daily necessities, then that’s a definite plus.
Taylor Joy: Everyone is getting so creative with their ideas!
Taylor Joy: In Raleigh, North Carolina, a neighborhood and teacher appreciation seemed to roll into one INC Giving Project–with volunteers giving health checks
to teachers who are new to America. Glucose level and blood pressure checks were given free of charge. Honestly, what a great way to show kindness and care.
Taylor Joy: Over in Macao, even though there was frigid weather, warm acts of kindness were extended to building maintenance personnel as well as tourists who were given snack packs.
Taylor Joy: If I was a tourist and received a snack pack, I would absolutely feel welcome and would appreciate having a little snack while walking around taking in all of the sights.
Taylor Joy: Maybe save one of those snack packs for me? Please? Thank you.
Taylor Joy: Now, in this next story, it’s always so nice to see the youth getting involved and showing care for their community. These young INC Giving Volunteers in Calgary helped to clean a community shelter and keep it tidy and orderly for the patrons of the Calgary Dream Center.
Taylor Joy: Way to use that elbow grease! Wait, would some of those kids even know what that means? Hmm…
Taylor Joy: From youth to seniors in this next project, where residents at the Brookdale Senior Living facility in Corona, California, were treated to musical performances.
Taylor Joy: You know, they say that music has some healing qualities so we hope that the songs that day were able to bring joy and upliftment to everyone there.
Taylor Joy: Food insecurity continues to be an issue in many first world countries like here in the United States.
Taylor Joy: In Louisville, Kentucky, some volunteers helped to package food items and organize the food pantry at Feed Louisville, which is a food rescue program that helps the homeless and those who are food insecure.
Taylor Joy: Personally, I was able to volunteer at a local food bank recently, and I found it very rewarding to be able to make a small difference in my community.
Taylor Joy: Heading over to Hukou, Hsinchu, Taiwan. Free breakfast was given out to everyone in the community. What a fantastic way to start your day!
Taylor Joy: Free breakfast? Yes, please!
Taylor Joy: We’ve got another coastal cleanup for you with this one taking place
in Marseilles, France. Young children also helped to beautify the beaches, showing that caring for your environment is a great family activity to participate in.
Taylor Joy: You can help keep the beaches beautiful and spend quality family time together. That’s definitely a win in my book.
Taylor Joy: Speaking of coasts, the Philippine Coast Guard Oriental Mindoro Station and Coast Guard Sub-Station Calapan shared that they were honored and recognized in this appreciation event with meals, thank you cards, and care packages.
Taylor Joy: In addition, they were entertained by songs and given certificates of appreciation to acknowledge the commitment and contributions of the Coast Guard personnel.
Taylor Joy: This is a group that I have never seen recognized before, but undoubtedly well-deserved.
Taylor Joy: And to close out our recap, we have some stunning views of Malta, where a coastal cleanup was held at Paradise Bay. Coast is Clear, an environmental conservation organization, thanked the INC Giving Volunteers for helping to remove 700 kilograms of plastics from waters and cliffs. 700 kilograms! Now, that is incredible.
Taylor Joy: Well, that was another whirlwind of INC Giving Projects from around the world. We know that everyone will keep the momentum going to do good whenever we possibly can.
Taylor Joy: Head on over to incgiving.org for helpful tools for your next INC Giving Project. And to find all of our weekly recaps in case you missed one. But we know that you haven’t, right? Right.
Taylor Joy: Thanks, everyone. See you again next week. Bye.
