Volunteer to Paint with Friends and Family to Make a Difference

Taylor Joy:  Good morning!

Taylor Joy: It’s the perfect day for an outdoor INC Giving. Let’s go! I’m so excited!

Taylor Joy: Today, I’m headed to Nicolas Road Park in Temecula, California with some other INC Giving volunteers. And we’ll be using our time to repaint the perimeter fence all around the park.

Taylor Joy: Hi! That’s my brother! What do you know? One of my other brothers.

Taylor Joy: Growing up in this area, I remember always seeing families and little kids enjoying this park. This has definitely served our community in so many ways and now it’s our chance to give back to the park.

Taylor Joy: Here are 3 tips to make your INC Giving project a success!

Taylor Joy: Tip #1: Invite a friend!

Taylor Joy: You can spend quality time with your friends while also helping out in your community in some way.

Taylor Joy: Like me, I have a friend!

Taylor Joy: Hi, friends. Time to paint! I’m excited! Yay!

Taylor Joy: How are you guys doing?

Friend: This is kinda…

Friend: …Therapeutic!

Taylor Joy: Therapeutic? Painting.

Taylor Joy: Remember to invite your friends to join you for your next INC Giving Project.

Taylor Joy: Tip #2: Anticipate what you’ll need on the day of so you can prepare yourself ahead of time.

Taylor Joy: For example, today, we knew we would need a lot of paint and paint brushes, so, leading up to today, we made the necessary arrangements to ensure that we had enough paint and brushes to accomplish our huge task.

Taylor Joy: Hello again!

Taylor Joy: Be sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint on. That goes for shoes, pants and outerwear.

Taylor Joy: What happened?

Friend: I got paint on my shirt.

Taylor Joy: Your first paint splatter!

Taylor Joy: And here’s Tip #3: INC Giving is all about spreading kindness and strengthening our positive connection with our communities. You can utilize the various websites and resources offered by your city or county, to find community service opportunities!

Taylor Joy: You can even reach out to your city officials, which is exactly how we were led to host this fence painting activity today!

Taylor Joy: As you can see, it can get really sunny. It might get really hot. So it’s a good idea to bring some water, some snacks, stay hydrated, so that—especially if you’re going to be outdoors for a long time, it’s a good idea to come as prepared as you can.

Taylor Joy: And of course …

Taylor Joy: “Are you guys having fun?!”

Friends: “Yeah!”

Taylor Joy: This is really the perfect day for an outdoor INC Giving activity, most especially a beautification project. We started off over there and we painted all the way, all the way over there past the play set to that end, all the way over there. I can’t, I don’t even know if you can see–to that very end of the fence way over there.

Taylor Joy: I’d say we did a pretty good job! These are definitely one of my favorite

INC Giving Project activities. It’s a great way to spend time with people that you love while also giving back to the community.

Taylor Joy: Thanks for watching and remember whenever you possibly can do good to those who need it.

Taylor Joy: How should we help the community next?
