Sharing a Culture of Caring For Our Community

Elijah: Oh—hello INC Giving friends! Today I’m up super early to share with all of you the amazing INC Giving projects around the world happening from morning to night. Let’s go.

Elijah: We start off in Mailag, Philippines, where INC Giving volunteers gathered for this early morning activity, a community cleanup drive.

Elijah: Now, if you’ve been following us on our socials, you already know about these brooms seen at so many of our cleanup drives in the Philippines.

Elijah: We posted about our San Luis Aurora volunteers who not only use these brooms, but gifted them to a local school.

Elijah: If kindness is universal, these brooms are not. This particular type of broom or walis is seen all over the Philippines. It’s a hard broom called a ‘walis ting ting’ made of palm mid ribs, each thin stick is fragile on its own, but when bound together they make a resilient cleaning tool.

Elijah: These awesome brooms were bundled with an awesome cleanup team. Happy, hardworking, INC Giving project helpers bound together.

Elijah: Have you ever used a walis ting ting?

Elijah: Now that I know more about these brooms, they really are a great symbol of INC Giving volunteers bound together.

Elijah: Like our amazing INC Giving volunteers here in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Continuing the work on a coastal cleanup drive.

Elijah: Sometimes it’s the joy of free toys that brings together a community. Check out these happy kids in Pampanga, Philippines. Great job INC Giving volunteers!

Elijah: Now we head over to Aston, Pennsylvania, where INC Giving volunteers came together for a Neighborhood Appreciation Day.

Elijah: Guests were drawn in by the warm invitations that advertised free haircuts, free groceries, free school supplies and free flower bouquets.

Elijah: Now we don’t really see many walis ting tings in California but we do see the same happy smiles of the INC Giving volunteers! They united here in Alameda, California for a coastal cleanup.

Elijah: Wow! That bag of trash and debris they collected is almost as big as their young volunteers. Round of applause for all of you!

Elijah: Looks like we have a few more neighborhood appreciation events. This one in Karratha City, Australia West, featured free coffee and muffins.

Elijah: Muffins and coffee sounds really good right now. And out in Las Vegas, Nevada, guests were treated to free food and entertainment, chapel tours and care packages. Awesome work to all of our volunteers!

Elijah: Ooh, I spy another walis ting ting! Yep! Brooms out, smiles out, for another cleanup drive led by our INC Giving volunteers here in Zamboanga City.

Elijah: And over in Temple Hills, Maryland. INC Giving volunteers participated in an adopt-a-road cleanup in their neighborhood.

Elijah: Looks like they’ve also adopted the enthusiasm we keep seeing amongst our INC Giving volunteers around the world. Keep it up, everyone.

Elijah: But maybe our real champs this week are the INC Giving volunteers who handed out free champorado at their coastal cleanup.

Elijah: Yep, our INC Giving volunteers in Surigao del Sur happily doled out champorado, a super yummy sweet chocolate flavored rice porridge along with some free sweet bread rolls, which are called pandesal.

Elijah: And they all had a wonderful time picking up litter and debris as a gesture to their beautiful community. So sweet.

Elijah: It was a sweet day in Rochester, New York, where INC Giving volunteers bonded at another coastal cleanup. They headed over to Durand Eastman Park.

Elijah: Fun fact: this coastal area is the southern shore of Lake Ontario.

Elijah: And on the other side of Lake Ontario, we have another happy set of INC Giving volunteers in Markham.

Elijah: Way to go to all of the volunteers out there in Eastern Ontario, Canada.

Elijah: Our free services for the neighborhood continued at Plaza Quezon, Metro Manila South. Volunteers gave back to the community through free dental checks and free haircuts! Wow!

Elijah: Fresh cuts to go with those bright smiles! We love to see it!

Elijah: The wonderful generosity continues into the night, thank you so much to all of the INC Giving volunteers in Angeles City, Philippines.

Elijah: It certainly looks late enough to be time for bed, but here they are handing out free soup and bread. Wonderful work!

Elijah: Whenever you possibly can, morning, noon or night, do good to those who need it.

Elijah: Wow, what an exciting run this week. I really need to catch up on my sleep so I can keep up with all of the INC Giving activities we’ll cover in our next recap.

Elijah: Keep sending us your photos and videos. Visit incgiving.org to share your stories, and to access all the tools you need to plan your next INC Giving activity.

Elijah: *yawns*

Elijah: Great work *yawns* INC Giving team! Really! See you bright and early next week. Good night!
