Angélica aquí y bienvenidos nuevamente a Iglesia De Cristo Mundo, donde te conectamos con eventos e historias de fe dentro de la Iglesia De Cristo en tu comunidad y en todo el mundo. Con todo lo que está sucediendo en el mundo de hoy, puede ser difícil saber dónde encontrar la esperanza. En américa del sur, los venezolanos están sufriendo en un país con agitación política y económica. Algunos han optado por emigrar a la vecina colombia para tener la oportunidad de una vida mejor. La Iglesia De Cristo se unió a la oficina del alcalde en Bogotá y otras organizaciones humanitarias para darles a estos inmigrantes venezolanos la luz de la esperanza. Como punto culminante de un fin de semana que incluyó un bautismo y dos servicios inaugurales en Bogotá, la Iglesia De Cristo realizó un evento de ayuda humanitaria de dos días para ayudar y resaltar la difícil situación de las familias venezolanas. En esta presentación especial, observe cómo las personas se unen para ofrecer ayuda y esperanza a quienes más la necesitan.

Jesús Caldera (Abogado de Nueva Gobernanza): Mi nombre es Jesús Enrique Caldera, yo soy un joven venezolano. Tengo 10 años aquí en Colombia, soy abogado en Venezuela, abogado en Colombia. Me ha tocado reinventarme acá en este proceso, somos perseguidos políticos.

El país de Venezuela está en crisis. La hiperinflación, el aumento de la delincuencia y las tasas de hambre, dejan a los venezolanos muy pocas opciones. Incapaces de comprar artículos de primera necesidad para sus familias, muchos se ven obligados a huir a la vecina Colombia para encontrar ayuda.
Presentador de noticias: …inflación que ya está en un millón por ciento. Más encanedar una mega-devaluación—
Presentador de noticias: …extremos insostenibles y las víctimas las que más sufres o las más de días como siempre, los niños y los ancianos. Niños como esta pesa de seis años que pesa menos de trece libras…
Presentador de noticias: Un país en crisis. Millones de venezolanos abandonan su patria, las causas son varias.
Jesús Caldera (Abogado, Nueva Gobernanza):La situación en Venezuela está demasiado complicado, una persona que gana 50 centavos de dólar por semana, muy difícil sobrevivir en un país así como ese.
Camila Pinto (Centro Integral Asistente al Migrante): Esto está afectando realmente tanto a los venezolanos como a los colombianos.

Escapando de la agitación política, muchos venezolanos recurren a hacer el viaje a pie.
Jesús Caldera (Abogado, Nueva Gobernanza): …caminando miles de kilómetros para llegar acá a Bogotá o a diferentes partes de Ecuador, Perú … es difícil.
ENTREVISTADOR: Y ¿cuánto tiempo se demoró de venir aquí de Venezuela a aquí?
Yessica Bellorin, beneficiaria venezolana: Uno—7 días.
Ervis Contreras (Beneficiario Venezolano):
Me imagino que muchos en el mundo pues ya sabe la realidad que vivimos en nuestro país pues y motivado por eso, pues uno sale acá que es entre comillas lo más cerca a nuestro país en busca de mejores oportunidades. Pues, al comienzo fue un poco complicado, pero sí, ya ha mejorado, gracias a Dios y estamos ya bien aquí económicamente, podemos ayudar a nuestras familias en Venezuela.
Camila Pinto (Centro Integral Asistente al Migrante): Entonces él [el alcalde] abre algunos servicios como educación y salud pero en temas de salud solamente en temas de emergencia de vitalidad. Y de un tiempo para acá se da cuenta de que estos servicios no son suficientes y que se no está saliendo un poco de control porque la idea es ayudarlos y ayudar los que más se pueda a la gente.
[Gráficos de texto en pantalla] Casi abrumada, la oficina del alcalde de Bogotá buscó alianzas con diferentes organizaciones para ayudar a los inmigrantes venezolanos a establecerse adecuadamente en Colombia, incluyendo la Iglesia De Cristo.
Camila Pinto (Centro Integral Asistente al Migrante) [en inglés]: Muchas gracias para ayudarnos porque es muy importante para nosotros a estas personas. Ellos no tienen nada para comer. Un sándwich, para ellos, es como mucho, así que muchas gracias.
Hno. Matt Capistrano (Ministro Supervisor del Distrito) [en inglés]: Sabemos que la pobreza es un problema y la mayoría de los venidos de Venezuela, y ahora entendemos su situación, están sufriendo y hoy pudimos brindar nuestra ayuda a través de nuestros paquetes de cuidado.
[Gráficos de texto en pantalla]: Voluntarios de la Iglesia de Cristo, ambos con sede en Colombia y los Estados Unidos, distribuyeron más de 740 paquetes de atención durante dos días, en cuatro ubicaciones en toda Bogotá.
Jesús Caldera (Abogado, Nueva Gobernanza): Hoy estuvieran aquí aproximadamente unas 60 familias venezolanas que realmente necesitan la Ayuda Humanitaria que muy generosamente están brindando la Iglesia de Cristo.
Camila Pinto (Centro Integral Asistente al Migrante): Pués, no podemos dejarlos desamparados puesto que esto es el primer paso para una reconstrucción de Venezuela, este es el primer paso de humanidad que no podemos dejar de lado.

Pero los paquetes de cuidado solo pueden ayudar con problemas materiales, por lo que los ministros de la Iglesia De Cristo también allí para dar consejos espirituales.
Yessica Bellorin (Beneficiaria Venezolana): Son muy gratas para nosotros porque nosotros necesitamos más que todo el Dios porque a veces uno se desespera porque no consigue dinero, porque no tiene comida, pero como que palabras al corazón, como de aliento, como de paz, como de fe, eso es lo que me gustó mucho.
Hno. Matt Capistrano (Ministro Supervisor del Distrito) [en inglés]: Tenemos que seguir defendiendo los valores cristianos que se nos enseñaron a través de las Sagradas Escrituras. Esa es la razón exacta por la que estamos aquí.
Karina Huayta (viajó a Colombia desde Perú para su bautismo): Bueno, es un sentimiento, no sé … es más que amor, es más que dedicación, es más que esfuerzo, y es algo que no sé. A mí, la verdad, participar en este tipo de eventos más que todo que lo hagamos en hermandad.

Karina Huayta viajó a Colombia a Perú para ayudar con el evento de Ayuda a la Humanidad y para recibir su bautismo en la Iglesia De Cristo.

Karina Huayta (viajó a Colombia desde Perú para su bautismo): Cuando me dijeron que tenía viajar a Colombia el 10 de Mayo, ¿no? Unos días antes, que tienes un día antes… ¿tengo que ir hasta Colombia? Yo decía “Voy a tener que viajar hasta allá.” Dentro de mí, no lo creía. Pero todas las puertas, me dieron el permiso automático. Creo que este era mi hora, que yo tenía que estar inscrita en un libro [de vida] y cuando sigues estudiando más, y cuando sigues conociendo la palabra más, tu problema no va a ser nada. Es algo increíble que solamente el que vive puede decir qué es lo que se siente, es más que todo lo que hacemos todos los días, en lo que damos una limosna, en lo que ayudamos a una persona a cruzar, es más que eso, es más que eso. Yo la verdad, es un sentimiento muy especial que yo conocí en esta Iglesia de Cristo…Realmente es la pura verdad, las palabras del Señor Dios, que han sido reveladas a esta Iglesia. Entonces yo ruego para que esa verdad llegue a mi país y no solamente al mío sino toda América Latina.

Venezuelan migrants receive aid from the Church Of Christ

[Hello! Angelica here and welcome again to Iglesia De Cristo Mundo, where we connect you to events and stories of faith within the Church Of Christ in your community and around the world. With all that’s happening in the world today, it can be hard to know where to look for hope.
In South America, Venezuelans are suffering in a country wrought with political and economic turmoil. Some have chosen to migrate to neighboring Colombia for a chance at a better life. The Church Of Christ joined with the Mayor’s Office in Bogotá and other humanitarian organizations to give these migrant Venezuelans the light of hope. The capstone to a weekend that included a baptism and two inaugural services in Bogotá, the Church Of Christ held a two-day Aid to Humanity event to help and highlight the plight of incoming Venezuelan families. In this special presentation, watch how people come together to offer help and hope to those who need it most.]

[My name is Jesús Enrique Caldera, I am a young Venezuelan, I’ve been living here in Colombia for 10 years, I’m a lawyer in Venezuela, a lawyer here in Colombia. I had to reinvent myself here in this process, we are victims of political persecution.]

News anchor: Rich or poor, all Venezuelans have had to adjust to living in one of the world’s most dangerous countries, where the murder rate has tripled—
News anchor: A country in crisis. Millions of Venezuelans leave their homeland, the causes are several.
[The country of Venezuela is in crisis. Hyperinflation, increasing crime and hunger rates, leave Venezuelans very few choices. Unable to buy necessities for their families, many are forced to flee into neighboring Colombia in order to find help.]
Jesús Caldera (Abogado, Nueva Gobernanza):
[The situation in Venezuela is too complicated, a person that earns 50 cents of a dollar per week, it’s too hard to survive in a country like that.]
Camila Pinto (Centro Integral Asistente al Migrante):
[This is really affecting the Venezuelans and Colombians.]
Escaping political turmoil, many Venezuelans resort to making the journey on foot.
Jesús Caldera (Abogado, Nueva Gobernanza):
[…walking thousands of kilometers to get here in Bogota or to different parts like Ecuador, Peru, … it’s hard.]
INTERVIEWER: And, how long did it take you to get here from Venezuela?

[Around 7 days.]

I think that many around the world know the reality we are living in our country and that’s what motivated me to get out and go here to the “nearest place” to our country looking for better opportunities. At the beginning it was a bit complicated, but yes, things got better, thank God and now we are in an economically better [position], we can help our families in Venezuela.
Camila Pinto (Centro Integral Asistente al Migrante):
[So he [the mayor] opened some services like education and health but in terms of health only those with vital emergency. And then further in time he realized that these services were not enough and that it was getting out of control because the idea was to help the people as much as we could.]
[On-screen text graphics] Nearly overwhelmed, the office of the Mayor in Bogotá sought partnerships with different organizations to help Venezuelan migrants properly settle in Colombia, including the Church Of Christ.]

[So thank you so much [for helping] us, because it’s so important for us to help these people. They don’t have anything to eat. A sandwich, for them, it’s like, a lot, so thank you very much.]
Brother Matthew Capistrano (District Supervising Minister)
We know that poverty is a problem and a majority of them came from Venezuela and we understand their situation now, they’re hurting and today we were able to extend our help through our care packages.
[Volunteers from the Church Of Christ, both based in Colombia and the United States, distributed over 740 care packages over two days, in four locations across Bogotá.]

[Today approximately 60 Venezuelan families were able to make it today to the Aid to Humanity that the Church of Christ is generously giving.]
Camila Pinto (Centro Integral Asistente al Migrante):
[We can’t forsake them for this is the first step to the reconstruction of Venezuela, this is the first step to humanity that we can’t put aside.]

But care packages can only help with material problems, so ministers from the Church Of Christ were also there to give spiritual advice.

[We also taught the words of our Almighty God written in the Holy Scriptures.]

[They were very pleasant because we need above all God because sometimes you are in despair, don’t have money, don’t have food, but the words were to the heart, they were of encouragement, of peace, of faith, that’s what I really liked.]

[We have to continue to uphold the Christian values that were taught to us through the Holy Scriptures. That’s the exact reason why we are here.]
Karina Huayta (she traveled to Colombia from Peru for her baptism):
[Well it’s a feeling, wherein, I don’t know … it’s more than love, more than dedication, more than effort and it’s something the grows. For me, the truth is, to participate in these type of events, more than anything is that we do this in brotherhood.]

[I asked myself … “wow… do I have to go to Colombia? I need to travel to Colombia”, inside of me. I couldn’t believe it but at every door, they [my work] gave me permission automatically. I thought this is my time to be enlisted in the book

And when you continue studying more, and the more you know about the word, your problem is nothing. It’s something incredible that only those who live it know the feeling, it is much more than what we do everyday, more than giving alms, or helping someone cross the street, it’s more than that. For me it is truly a very special feeling that I learned about in this Church of Christ… It is really the pure truth, the words of the Lord God that were revealed to this Church. So I implore that that truth will arrive to my country and not only to mine but to all of Latin America.]
