Humanitarian Event for Seattle Families Scheduled on October 27
October 19, 2018 (SEATTLE) – The Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church Of Christ)’s administration and members around the world thank the Seattle community, and the greater Washington state government and law enforcement agencies for their ongoing investigation and concern regarding the arson attempt that took place on October 18 at one of its houses of worship at 7100 42nd Ave South in Rainier Valley.
Despite such threats and acts of violence, the INC’s Seattle congregants and members globally are strengthened in their unity and conviction to continue gathering for regular worship services and ongoing community activities, which all members of the community are open to join.
“No matter what we face, the Church will continue serving the Seattle community. We will keep on spreading the good news of salvation, and work to care for, and aid, our fellow human beings,” said Barrington Thompson, District Supervising Minister of the 25 congregations in the Pacific Northwest region of the US.
As scheduled, and undeterred, the Church Of Christ will resume with its Aid For Humanity event on Saturday, October 27, to be held at the same Rainier Valley property. The event is part of a worldwide effort to strengthen the bond between the congregations of the Church Of Christ and the communities in which they serve.
Earlier this year the Seattle congregations joined together to hold a Free Market Expo wherein community members received free goods and services, as well as various INC Giving projects throughout this summer such as a Career Fair, a Food Drive, a Clean Up Drive and a Police Appreciation event.
The upcoming October 27 event comes on the heels of a series of humanitarian efforts across Canada in recent weeks. From Toronto to Winnipeg, the Church Of Christ has been partnering with all people of goodwill to help others.
“Individuals and families are invited to come together to pray for the safety of their community’s residents and the continued well-being of their neighborhood — here, and in cities all over the world,” said Donald Pinnock of the Iglesia Ni Cristo Public Information Office in Canada.
Ongoing outreach activities are also scheduled to thank the surrounding residents and law enforcement of the Seattle community for their immediate and positive support.
Worship services in the Seattle congregation house of worship will continue on Wednesdays (7:30 and 9:30 pm), Thursdays (5:45 am and 7:30 pm), Saturdays (7:00 pm) and Sundays (9:00 am).
