Kevin Johnson: I only knew two things about boxing: hit and don’t get hit. I was 17 at the time when I went to a boxing gym, learning the ins and outs of boxing. That was my stress reliever.

He currently has four duties and is now a Deacon.
Kevin: What’s going on everybody, first time performing as SCAN, performing my duty. Feel good, feel great, you know.
I wrote to Brother Eduardo about my victory and my first fight in pro. I won by knockout. Our Resident Minister, Brother Anthony told me to write a letter. And at first I’m like, why should I write a letter to Brother Eduardo? You know, he’s a very busy man. But at the same time, coming from our Resident Minister at the time, I’ll just do it. I prayed, and as soon as I got home, I wrote the letter. I also wrote to him that I’m still standing firm in my duty, and still an active member. Thanks be to God. And I gave it to our Resident Minister. And a week later, I had a response. And it’s crazy because that day I was about to head to the boxing gym. Our head deacon called me and said, go to the chapel right now, someone wants to see you. I was like, who? At first, my heart was beating fast. I met the District Minister. He shook my hand and handed me a letter—this is from brother Eduardo Manalo. I was shaking.

Kevin: Man, I’m so blessed. So blessed to be performing as a SCAN member in the Church, it’s a blessing. It’s a special blessing for me and my family because when I received the letter, it was almost about to be a new year. And —it’s a new year, and I received a letter from Brother Eduardo, this is the right way to start the new year off. A whole new year. And it’s just a blessing every time a read the letter. I encourage my family to continue on staying on the right path, and also myself. And continue on in our service to our Almighty God.
Dear Brother Kevin,
I would like to extend my congratulations to you on winning your boxing match last December 16, 2016. I know that that day is a memorable one and may you continue to reap more success. Make your win an inspiration to reflect on God’s goodness and thank Him for all of His wonderful blessings. I hope that you could also inspire other brethren to be active in sports for them to be healthy in performing all of their duties in the Church. I urge you to continue with your zealous participation in the activities launched by the Church Administration. Whatever your situation in life may be, always place your full confidence in God. May God’s bountiful blessings always be with you and your loved ones.
Your brother in Christ,
Brother Eduardo V. Manalo.
Kevin: Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, our Executive Minister, I want to thank you so much for your love, your devotion, your care, for me and the brethren to be edified in our faith. Thank you so much, dear Brother, for giving us the chance to continue to reap victory—to continue on in our perfection to dedicate ourselves as a living sacrifice for our Lord Jesus Christ and our Almighty God. Thank you so much, Brother. I love you.
