Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, Inc.’s ‘Aid To Humanity’ Donates Technology and Funds
SEPTEMBER 17 (SAN FRANCISCO) – The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church Of Christ) donated educational technology resources and funds to the Boys & Girls Club of North San Mateo County (BGCSNMC) in Pacifica, California for the benefit of its members.
In a simple ceremony held on September 15, the Church, through its socio-civic arm, the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, handed over to the Club 20 Chromebook laptops and tablets, backpacks, and a check in the amount of $10,000.
Esteban Inocencio, supervising minister of the Ecclesiastical District of Northwest California, presented the donation to Pacifica Mayor Deirdre Martin and BGCSNMC Pacifica Area Director Denise Morris.
“We are very honored,” Morris said. “What we do here in Pacifica … is make sure that our kids are provided for, and that they understand that we’re here for them. This is a God-send and I am so grateful that I’m going to be able to provide for those kids that otherwise might just stay home and not come to us because they don’t have a way to get online.”
In his opening remarks, INC Public Information spokesperson Robert Pellien intimated that this was indeed the noble intent of the Church through the FYM Foundation for this donation—to be of help in its own simple way for the youth’s education.
“The FYM Foundation is also aware that one of the most important values that we can share in a community is education. That is why the Foundation also strives to assist educators, students, and the community partners, like the Boys & Girls Club, who support them in their pursuit of education,” he said.
Mayor Martin expressed her appreciation of the Iglesia Ni Cristo and the FYM Foundation’s humanitarian efforts. “What can we do to focus on people in a time of need, when everyone’s in need?” she said. Here’s an organization that’s sole mission is to figure out what to do for people in times of need … Personally, I believe that God is love, and I feel the love here.”
With congregations in 158 countries and territories, the Iglesia Ni Cristo conducts Aid To Humanity events all over the world. In Canada and the United States, it has helped thousands of poor families with their basic needs and donated to more than 100 charitable organizations.
