Lois Paula Riturban (host): Welcome to the INC Giving Show, I’m Lois Paula Riturban. Now, a few weeks ago, we shared with you ideas on how you can support the community in Parkland, Florida, who were recovering from the tragic incident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Now, many of you responded. This also inspired young INC Giving volunteers in New York to send their own message of hope. I’ll send it over now to Kristine Adalla, better known as Kit, who will show us what a few have done together in the Northeastern Seaboard.
Kristine “Kit” Adalla-Angeles (INC Giving volunteer): Hey everyone! I’m Kit and I thought I’d bring you along as I put together a care package for Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. We all heard about the tragic news of a school shooting that took 17 lives. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one that wanted to show my support to the grieving community of Parkland, Florida but I didn’t know what to do. Then I heard that the youth of the Church Of Christ in Long Island City were making cards and sending a package to the students of Parkland, Florida. They reminded me that no act of kindness is too small.
Xanthe Viado (INC Giving youth volunteer): We want the people to feel happy, joyful and I want them to have a smile on their face.
Alaina Valena (INC Giving youth volunteer): As youth volunteers of the INC Giving, we have to be positive so that we are able to support them, so that they will also be able to stay strong.
Kit: Inspired by the kids in Long Island City, I decided to make my own card. I also wanted to show some love, specifically from New York, so I included a care package of snacks and ordered New York bagels to be shipped to the high school.

Inspired by the INC Giving Project, The Bagel Store, in Brooklyn, also donated bagels with us, to be shipped to Stoneman Douglas.
Kit: In the wake of a senseless tragedy, you may feel like you don’t know what to do or nothing that you do is enough. But the value of a care package is in its name. It’s not about what’s in it, it’s about showing that you support and care about the people you send them to. To the students of Parkland, Florida, we hear you. We believe that your voice is a powerful thing and we hope that you hear us too. We support you and your community.

Lois Paula: Thank you Kit and a special thank you to all of our INC Giving volunteers in New York and the Northeastern Seaboard. Projects are taking place all over the world and it’s so exciting to see everyone in their communities, sharing their faith near or far through acts of kindness.
