VICTORVILLE DAILY PRESS – JANUARY 12, 2018

VICTORVILLE — Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC or Church Of Christ) will provide free flu shots, clothing, food, fun family games and more to those in need on Saturday at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds.

High Desert residents and families in need are invited to benefit, free of charge, from 250 flu vaccinations, 500 grocery bags and medical services offered.

“We know it is a duty to provide not only spiritual needs, but assistance for our neighbors in any manner possible,” said Ramil Regino, district minister of the Southeast California and Central America INC congregations. “Much emphasis is placed on the Church’s outreach and socio-civic activities, which seek to benefit the less fortunate communities internationally who need help.”

Doors will open at 9 a.m. with a hot catered breakfast, followed by a brief Bible study and then a free distribution of goods. Later in the day, lunch will also be provided. The service will end at 3 p.m.

Some of the items that will be passed out include free winter clothes, children’s backpacks, school supplies, medical services and nonperishable goods. There will also be family games hosted by hundreds of church volunteers.

INC’s mission is to share their faith through acts of kindness.

“Everyone needs help,” said Lois Paula Riturban, media relations advisor for INC. “We open our arms, open our hearts so people can reconnect to God and their community.”

INC is a global church that has 6,000 local congregations and missions in 142 countries. Its goals are based on community needs in an effort to ease poverty.

INC partners with local governments and community establishments to provide services for people to lead healthy and productive lives, while promoting community development.

Free transportation to the venue will be provided to residents of the High Desert Homeless Services shelter at 8:30 a.m.

Services are open to all people on a first come, first served basis until provisions have run out.

Those interested in getting involved can contact INC’s congregation in Victorville by calling 760-265-7202, emailing victorville.destinado@gmail.com, or by stopping by the church at 15874 Condor Road.
