Hermano Kevin Martin: Bienvenidos, estimados amigos, al programa El Mensaje. El Mensaje es un programa presentado por la Iglesia De Cristo. Soy el Hermano Kevin Andreu Martin. Sabemos que en la vida cada momento importa. Esperando, que no sea un evento catastrófico en nuestra vidas para darnos cuenta de esta verdad. Aún así, tenemos que entender que nuestro tiempo es limitado y lo inevitable sucederá. Sin embargo, el estado del mundo que vivimos en el presente, las cuales son inusuales y desconocidas previamente, se han convertido en la “nueva normalidad” y puede difuminar nuestra realidad. Esas muchas preocupaciones y situaciones aparentemente urgentes podrían eclipsar lo que es realmente importante para nosotros y poner la mayor parte de nuestra energía.
Y así, al afrontar el aumento del precio de los bienes de primera necesidad, un incremento competitivo del mercado laboral, y la pobreza persistente, muchas personas siempre buscan mejorar sus vidas o, al menos, sentirse mejor. Considerando la difícil situación en la que se encuentra la mayoría de la gente, es difícil culparles.
Desafortunadamente, hay quienes aprovechan cualquier oportunidad sin pensar en las consecuencias de sus acciones, de las que luego se arrepienten. Incluso ponen en peligro sus vidas al entregarse a los vicios, o tomando ventaja de otras personas o de cualquier situación para su beneficio egoísta. Y siempre podemos ver a la gente en situaciones precarias porque se preocupan sólo con las cosas materiales.
Justifican sus acciones diciendo, o gritando a veces: “¡Solo vives una vez!” ¿Acaso deberíamos sorprendernos de que mucha gente en nuestro tiempo tenga esta mentalidad? Esta es la profecía del Señor Jesucristo que acontecerá cuando el día de Su regreso esté cerca, escrito en Lucas 17:26-30 Traducción de la Versión The Living Bible:
“[Cuando regrese], el mundo será [indiferente a las cosas de Dios] como la gente en los días de Noé. Comían y bebían y se casaban-todo como era de costumbre hasta el día cuando Noé entró en el arca y llegó el diluvio y los destruyó a todos. Y el mundo será como en los días de Lot, la gente se ocupaba de sus quehaceres diarios—comían y bebían, compraban y vendían, cultivaban y edificaban—hasta la mañana en que Lot salió de Sodoma. Hermano Kevin: El Señor Jesucristo recuerda a Sus seguidores que en los días de Noé y Lot, mucha gente cayó en la misma idea equivocada y, debido a esto, se convirtió “indiferentes a las cosas de Dios”—hasta que les sobrevino el castigo del Señor Dios. El problema es que la mayoría de la gente hoy en día están cayendo en la misma trampa—convirtiendo indiferentes a las cosas del Señor Dios. Pero debemos entender: el castigo del Señor Dios vino a la gente durante el tiempo de Noé y Lot; también vendrá en nuestro tiempo de la misma manera. Debemos estar preparados para esto, y seguir con la corriente de la mentalidad de la mayoría de la gente en este mundo definitivamente no nos ayudará a prepararnos para lo que está por venir. Sin embargo, tenemos que destacar que no hay nada de malo en ganarse la vida, estudiar o atender nuestras necesidades diarias — a través de medios justos. Aún así, de los versículos de la Biblia que hemos leído, debemos entender que hay cosas aún más importantes que debemos priorizar en la vida. Cristo enseñó entonces a Sus discípulos a dar mayor importancia a las cosas del Señor Dios, no a las cosas materiales o terrenales. Esto debe ser enfatizado aún más en nuestro tiempo porque el regreso del Señor se acerca.
¿Por qué estamos seguros que el día cuando el Señor Jesucristo regrese ya está cerca?
Aquí leeremos más profecías del Señor Jesucristo, tal y como están escritas en Mateo 24:3, 33, 6-7 Reina Valera Actualizada 2015:
Estando él sentado en el monte de los Olivos, sus discípulos se acercaron a él aparte y le dijeron: —Dinos, ¿cuándo sucederán estas cosas? ¿Y qué señal habrá de tu venida y del fin del mundo?
Así también ustedes, cuando vean todas estas cosas, sepan que está cerca, a las puertas.
Oirán de guerras y de rumores de guerras. Miren que no los turben, porque es necesario que esto acontezca; pero todavía no es el fin. Porque se levantará nación contra nación y reino contra reino. Habrá hambre y terremotos por todas partes.

Hermano Kevin: Estamos seguros que el Día del Señor está cerca porque todas las señales de Su inminente regreso ya se han cumplido. En estos versículos que les hemos leído, el Señor Jesucristo mencionó algunas de las señales que cuando se ocurran, Su regreso está cerca, incluso a las puertas.
¿Cuáles son estas señales y cuando se cumplieron?
Las guerras y los rumores de guerras, de nación contra nación y reino contra reino se cumplieron con las dos Guerras Mundiales, la primera comenzó en 1914, la otra en 1939. Las hambrunas extendidas , pestilencias y terremotos también fueron predichas por Cristo. Ciertamente, el cumplimiento de esas cosas significan que el regreso del Señor está cerca. Su regreso es también llamado el Día del Juicio. Podemos leer en 2 Pedro 3:7 y 10 La Biblia de Las Américas lo que sucederá entonces:
pero los cielos y la tierra actuales están reservados por su palabra para el fuego, guardados para el día del juicio y de la destrucción de los impíos. Pero el día del Señor vendrá como ladrón, en el cual los cielos pasarán con gran estruendo, y los elementos serán destruidos con fuego intenso, y la tierra y las obras que hay en ella serán quemadas.

Hermano Kevin: En el Día del Juicio, el Señor Dios destruirá con fuego los cielos y la tierra y a todos los impíos. En ese día, todas las cosas materiales de este mundo que la gente cree importantes serán destruidas, junto con aquellos que fueron engañados a creer que viven apartados de Dios sin ninguna consecuencia. Si este es el final, ¿deberíamos seguir perdiendo nuestro tiempo en cosas insensatas? ¿O debemos prepararnos, incluso nuestro hogar, sobre cómo podemos afrontar este día y hacer lo que podamos para escapar del castigo de Dios? ¿Cuál es la cosa más sabia que uno puede hacer?
Los apóstoles nos enseñaron que hacer, tal y como está escrito aquí en Efesios 5:15-16 Palabra de Dios para Todos:
Por eso hay que tener mucho cuidado con la forma de vivir. No vivan como la gente necia, sino con sabiduría. Esto quiere decir que deben aprovechar toda oportunidad para hacer el bien, porque estamos en una época llena de maldad.

Hermano Kevin: Sería una tontería perder nuestro tiempo en cosas que no nos ayudarán en el Día del Juicio. Estos pueden ser días difíciles, pero los apóstoles nos exhortan a ser sabios y aprovechar al máximo cada oportunidad que tengamos para hacer el bien. ¿Cuál es el bien al que se refieren que debemos hacer en cada oportunidad que tenemos? Algunos pueden estar pensando que ya están haciendo lo que es bueno, es decir, lo que les hace sentir bien o cual sea lo que ellos piensen por su cuenta que es bueno para ellos.
Averigüemos y leamos aquí en Romanos 7:12 La Biblia de Las Américas:
Así que la ley es santa, y el mandamiento es santo, justo y bueno.

Hermano Kevin: Lo bueno que la gente debe hacer en toda oportunidad que tenga son las leyes o mandamientos del Señor Dios. Por consiguiente, esto es lo que debemos hacer siempre: Aprovechar cada oportunidad para obedecer los mandamientos de nuestro Señor Dios. No es sabio si desperdiciamos nuestro tiempo en cosas efímeras y en dejar que las exigencias y desafíos del día nos abrumen. Es cierto que solo vivimos una vez en este mundo, y si una vez que desperdiciamos esta una y sola vida que tenemos en cosas que son solo de este mundo, tendremos el mismo final que las cosas materiales que alguna vez pensamos que eran valiosas. ¿Cómo podemos evitar tal terrible final? Consultemos las enseñanzas de la Biblia y sigamos la voluntad del Señor Dios; de hecho, aprovechemos el día y hagamos lo que es bueno. Esto es lo que la Biblia nos dice en Romanos 8:1:
Por consiguiente, no hay ahora condenación para los que están en Cristo Jesús,

Para no ser castigados ni condenados, tenemos que asegurarnos de estar en Cristo.
Algunos podrían proclamar y afirmar fácilmente y que ya no tienen ningún problema, ya que creen que ya están en Cristo Jesús al declarar su fe en Él y, como ellos dicen, aceptándole como su salvador personal.
Afirmar creer y conocer que están en el Señor Jesucristo es una cosa, sin embargo, si preguntamos al Señor Jesucristo o a quién Él conoce verdaderamente como Suyos, esa es otra debido a que la Biblia nos dice que los que no tienen condenación son los que están en el Señor Jesucristo. Es el Señor Jesucristo quien debe garantizarles que son Suyos, Por consiguiente, ¿el Señor Jesucristo proclama a alguien o algo como Suyo? Podemos leer Su propia declaración en Mateo 16:18:

Hermano Kevin: El Señor Jesucristo mismo proclamó que Él edificó Su Iglesia, como citamos a Él diciendo: “Edificaré mi Iglesia.” Si el Señor Jesucristo la llamó, diciendo “mi Iglesia,” podemos leer de la Biblia como Sus apóstoles llamaron lo que el Señor Jesucristo proclamó como verdaderamente Suyo, aquí en Hechos 20:28 Traducción de la Versión Lamsa (traducido al español):

Hermano Kevin: Podemos aprovechar el día, estimados amigos, y asegurar de que realmente nos beneficiaremos al comenzar el proceso de unirnos a la Iglesia De Cristo. Estar verdaderamente en Cristo es estar dentro de Su Iglesia o la Iglesia De Cristo. Por eso nunca nos cansamos de invitarles a unirse a la Iglesia De Cristo. Haciendo esto es cumpliendo la voluntad de Dios que seguramente nos ayudará y preparará cuando llegue el Día del Juicio. Tal y como hemos aprendido de la Biblia, cuando estamos en Cristo o cuando estamos en la Iglesia De Cristo, no hay más condenación para nosotros en el día del regreso del Señor Jesucristo.
Hermano Kevin: ¿Es unirse a la Iglesia De Cristo lo único que uno debe hacer para escaparse de la ira de Dios en el Día del Juicio? Los apóstoles nos exhortaron que hacer como los que verdaderamente están en el Señor Jesucristo, aquí en Romanos 13:13-14 Easy to Read Version (traducido al español):
Debemos vivir en rectitud, como la gente que pertenece al día. No debemos tener fiestas desenfrenadas e inútiles. No debemos emborracharnos. No debemos cometer pecados sexuales o pecar de cualquier manera con nuestros cuerpos. No debemos causar discusiones y problemas o ser celosos. Get to Know God
Presenter: Welcome, everyone! You’re listening to another episode of the El Mensaje podcast, presented by the Church Of Christ, where the truth and teachings of God come straight from the Bible. Our topic today deals with “getting to know God”, and is taught by Brother Kevin Martin. Let’s listen.
Brother Kevin Andreu Martin: Welcome, dear friends, to the program El Mensaje. El Mensaje is a program presented by the Church Of Christ. I am Brother Kevin Andreu Martin. In life, we know that every moment counts. Hopefully, it would not take a catastrophic event in our lives to realize this truth. Still, we have to understand that our time is limited and the inevitable will come to pass. However, the state of the world that we live in at present, which was unusual and unfamiliar before, has become the “new normal” and can blur our reality. Those many concerns and seemingly urgent situations might overshadow what is truly important for us to do and put most of our energy into. And so, in the face of the rising prices of essential goods, an increasingly competitive job market, and lingering poverty, many people are always looking to make their lives better or, at least, make them feel better. Considering the tough situation most people are in, it’s difficult to blame them.
Unfortunately, there are those who grab any opportunity without thinking through the consequences of their actions, which they later regret doing. They even put their lives in danger by indulging in vices, or taking advantage of other people or any situation for their selfish gain. And we see people always in precarious situations because they are preoccupied only with material things.
They justify their actions by saying, or shouting at times: “You only live once!” Should we be surprised that many people in our time have this mentality?
Here is the prophecy of the Lord Jesus Christ that will happen when the day of His return is near, recorded in Luke 17:26-30 The Living Bible:
“[When I return] the world will be [as indifferent to the things of God] as the people were in Noah’s day.” “They ate and drank and married-everything just as usual right up to the day when Noah went into the ark and the flood came and destroyed them all. And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot: people went about their daily business-eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building-” “until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and brimstone rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.” “Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the hour of my return.”

Brother Kevin Martin: The Lord Jesus Christ reminds His followers that in the days of Noah and Lot, many people had fallen into that same wrong idea and, hence, became “indifferent to the things of God”—until God’s punishment came upon them. Problem is, most people today are falling into the same trap—becoming indifferent to the things of God. As the Lord Jesus Christ says, it will be “business as usual” right up to the hour of His return. But we have to understand: God’s punishment came to those people during the time of Noah and Lot; it will also come in our time. We have to be ready for this, and going with the flow of the mindset of most people in this world will definitely not prepare us for what is to come.
However, we have to point out that there is nothing wrong with earning a living, studying, or looking after our daily needs—through righteous means. Still, from the verses in the Bible that we read, we should understand that there are far more important things that we must prioritize in this life.
Christ taught His disciples then to give greater importance to the things of God, not to material or earthly things. This should be emphasized more in our time because the return of the Lord is drawing near.
Why are we sure that the day when the Lord Jesus Christ will return is already near?
Here are more prophecies of Christ we will read, as written in Matthew 24:3, 33, 6-7 New King James Version:
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near–at the doors!
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

Brother Kevin: We are sure that the Day of the Lord is near because the signs of His imminent return have all been fulfilled. In the verses that we read to you, Christ mentioned some of the signs that when they happen His return is near, even at the doors. What are those signs and when were they fulfilled? The wars and rumors of wars, nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom were fulfilled in the two World Wars, the first beginning in 1914, the other in 1939. The widespread famines, pestilences, and earthquakes were also foretold already by Christ. Certainly, those things being fulfilled mean that the return of the Lord is near. His return is also called the Judgment Day. We can read in II Peter 3:7 and 10 New King James Version what will happen then:
But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
II Peter 3:7, 10 New King James Version
Brother Kevin: On Judgment Day, God will destroy the heavens and the earth and all ungodly men with fire. On that day, all material things of this world that people think important will be destroyed, together with those who were deceived into believing that living apart from God has no consequences. Should we still be wasting our time on foolish things? Or should we prepare ourselves, even our household, on how we can face this day and do what we can so we escape God’s punishment? What would be the wisest thing to do?
The apostles taught us what to do, as written here in Ephesians 5:15-16 The Living Bible—
“So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good.”

Brother Kevin: It would be foolish to waste our time on things that will not help us on Judgment Day. These may be difficult days, but the apostles exhort us to be wise and make the most of every opportunity we have for doing good. What is the good that they are referring to that we must do at every opportunity that we have? Some might be thinking that they are already doing what is good, meaning what makes them feel good or whatever they think on their own that is good for them. Let us find out and read here in Romans 7:12 New King James Version:
Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.

Brother Kevin: The good that people should do every opportunity that they have are the laws and commandments of God. So, this is what we should always do: Seize every opportunity to obey the commandments of our Lord God. It would be unwise if we would waste our time on ephemeral things and let the day’s demands and challenges overwhelm us. It is true that we only live once in this world, and once we waste this one and only lifetime that we have on things that are only for this world, we will have the same end as those material things we thought were once valuable. How can we avoid such a terrible end? Let us consult the teachings of the Bible and follow the will of God; in fact, let us now seize the day and do what is good. This is what the Bible tells us in Romans 8:1 New International Version:
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Brother Kevin: To not be punished or condemned, we have to make sure to be in Christ. Some might easily proclaim and claim they have no problem anymore, since they believe they are in Christ Jesus already by declaring their faith in Him and, as they say, accepting Him as their personal Savior. Claiming to believe and to know they are in Christ is one thing, However, if we would ask the Lord Jesus who He considers as His own, or who does He truly know as His, that is another, because the Bible tells us that those who have no condemnation are those who are in Christ. Christ then must vouch for them if they are His own. So, did Christ proclaim anyone or anything as His?
We can read His own pronouncements in Matthew 16:18 Revised Standard Version:
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.
Christ Himself proclaims that He built His Church, as we quote Him saying: “I will build my Church.

Brother Kevin: If Christ called it, saying “my Church,” we can read from the Bible how His apostles called what Christ proclaimed as truly His, here in Acts 20:28 Lamsa:
Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock, over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to feed the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood.

Brother Kevin: We can seize the day then, dear friends, and be sure that we will truly benefit by beginning the process of joining the Church Of Christ. To be truly in Christ is to be inside His Church or the Church Of Christ. That is why we never get tired of inviting you to join the Church Of Christ. Doing so is fulfilling the will of God that will surely help and prepare us when Judgment Day comes. As what we learned from the Bible, when we are in Christ or when we are in the Church Of Christ there is no more condemnation for us on the day of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Brother Kevin: Is joining the Church Of Christ the only thing that one should do to escape the wrath of God on Judgment Day? The apostles exhort us what to do as people who are truly in Christ, here in Romans 13:13-14 Easy-to-Read Version:
We should live in a right way, like people that belong to the day. We should not have wild and wasteful parties. We should not be drunk. We should not do sexual sins or sin in any way with our bodies. We should not cause arguments and trouble or be jealous. But become like the Lord Jesus Christ, so when people see what you do, they will see Christ. Don’t think about how to satisfy your sinful self and the bad things you want to do.

Brother Kevin: The apostles reminded us to live in a right way, not to indulge in sins and satisfy our wicked self, but to lead a life like how Christ had lived. We must leave behind our sinful past and turn to a life that is in accordance with what God wants written in the Holy Bible. In the Church Of Christ, we live in line with the laws and commandments of our Lord God, since we value and will uphold what is truly important. This is how seizing the day should be, and it is how we can make our lives extraordinary, by making sure that our only lives in this world would not be put to waste by following the ways of this world, but rather be blessed and guided by God.
