Michelle: Pero sobre todo sigo las páginas de la Iglesia De Cristo que me dan mucha inspiración, sobre todo cada miércoles espero el versículo del día para poder compartirlo en mis redes sociales y que también puedan causar la misma inspiración que me da a mí, a mis seguidores o a mis amigos que tengo en las redes sociales. Y porque las palabras de Dios no son como las tendencias, no, no son como la moda que constantemente están cambiando. Las palabras de Dios son eternas, permanecen y nunca cambian. Como siempre se nos enseñan, nosotros somos la luz de este mundo. Entonces no debemos permitir apagar nuestra luz, ¿no? Brother Froilan: Hence, when true Christians use social media, their goal is not for popularity, self-interested behaviors, or garnering many “likes.” What is their goal? As Apostle Paul said:
“whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Thus, in whatever true Christians do—even when they are online or using social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Tiktok, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, and other websites or applications—true Christians should know and observe the proper limitations so they do not displease God.
The Internet and social media have indeed redefined today’s culture. They are useful to a certain extent, especially in speeding up communication and access to information. There are many “social media influencers” spreading certain thinking and ideologies to influence the way of thinking of their followers. There are trends, online cultures, and behaviors that constantly emerge on the internet that influence society. But despite all of these, true Christians adhere to the instruction of the Apostles so that whatever they do and whatever environment or culture they may be in, they will be able to fulfill their goal to glorify God. What is Apostle Paul’s advice to the true Christians to glorify God in the way that they live? Let us read Romans 12:1-2 The Message 2005:
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Brother Froilan: Hence, true Christians do not allow themselves to be dragged down to immaturity. Their goal is to reach maturity. What if they experience peer pressure offline or even online to do something or believe in something that is against God’s standards? Social media can grant access to different cultures and influences. Christians should be very careful and discerning and make sure that they are not conforming to the standards of this world that are against God’s will. So what do they strive to do? What the apostles exhort the true Christians is this: “Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.” So what are some of the do’s and don’ts that the Bible teaches which we should observe when it comes to leading our lives and also in using social media? Brother Froilan: Hello dear friends, you are still watching El Mensaje. As mentioned earlier in our program, the Internet and social media continue to reshape today’s culture. They are useful to a certain extent, especially in speeding up communication and access to information. It’s a two-way street; someone using social media exposes themselves to different cultures and beliefs. If one doesn’t know how to properly handle it, one can experience its negative effects. In the article “Social Media and Mental Health,” when it comes to people’s behaviors and beliefs, social media poses a strong influence. When used wrongly, it can promote problematic and harmful behavior as stated in Social Media Impacts Behavior and Norms p. 7:
As such, an online social group is powerful at changing its members’ views on certain topics, thus reinforcing certain norms and behaviors within their group. Such a situation becomes problematic when agreement-focused groups adhere to social norms around harmful behavior.

Brother Froilan: But for true Christians, the Bible is their guide in using social media and handling its potential threats. They are very careful and discerning and make sure that they are not conforming to the standards of this world that are against God’s will. Whatever they do, they do it in the name of Christ. Their goal is to do all things for God’s glory that will also develop well-formed maturity in them. So what are some of the do’s and don’ts that the Bible teaches which people should observe when it comes to leading their lives and also in using social media? In I Corinthians 6:9-11 (New Life Version). Apostle Paul enumerated various works of immorality that will prevent true Christians from reaching maturity and entering the Holy City.
Do you not know that sinful men will have no place in the holy nation of God? Do not be fooled. A person who does sex sins, or who worships false gods, or who is not faithful in marriage, or men who act like women, or people who do sex sins with their own sex, will have no place in the holy nation of God. Also those who steal, or those who always want to get more of everything, or who get drunk, or who say bad things about others, or take things that are not theirs, will have no place in the holy nation of God. Some of you were like that. But now your sins are washed away. You were set apart for God-like living to do His work. You were made right with God through our Lord Jesus Christ by the Spirit of our God.

Brother Froilan: Understand that true Christians should not only avoid doing such immoral activities, they should also not post, view, like, share, or promote such things over the internet. Although such acts are being accepted and promoted in social media, however, we should remember that we should not fit in or conform to these things. We should conform to God’s standards. Social media should not be used for venting complaints or having senseless arguments with others. This is the instruction of Apostle Paul in II Timothy 2:23 (Good News Bible):
But keep away from foolish and ignorant arguments; you know that they end up in quarrels.

Brother Froilan: We are witnesses to the damages that social media have done when foolish arguments were vented out in social media. Hence, true Christians avoid engaging in such arguments not only offline but also online. When there are things that are trending or accepted by the majority or are promoted by anyone, even by a celebrity, social media influencer, or those who claim to be “woke,” if those are against God’s teachings, God’s people should refrain from using or doing such. This is what the Lord God himself stated in Exodus 23:2 (Good News Bible):
Do not follow the majority when they do wrong or when they give testimony that perverts justice.

Brother Froilan: Hence, true Christians do not give in to the wrongdoings and thinking of people even if they are the majority. They stand their ground in upholding Christian culture and obedience to God’s will. When something is done by the majority, it doesn’t mean that it is the right thing. Hence, people should also be careful when it comes to the doctrines that they believe in because even if a certain belief or ideology is accepted by the majority of people in this world, that is not the basis to say that such is correct. What we must always consider is if it is in accordance with the words of God written in the Bible.

Mayely Villanueva: I believe the pressures that sometimes young people today—sometimes they don’t know what to do in a situation—more with the internet—there’s also pressure to be putting things [online] that you’re having fun, you have nice things.
Michelle Limon: Well, my guide is always the words of our Lord God because as I mentioned before, it’s the truth, it’s the right thing. I even always like to look at the Church pages, don’t I? Because while you’re watching, right?—the news section, publications, and you can see different publications from this world, but it’s what they tell us all when you follow one of these pages or programs, while you’re watching the section. If you’re on the news or checking your social media, Church posts suddenly appear, right? And then you stand up and say, “Yes, this is the right thing to do, I have to follow this.” I’m from the Church Of Christ, right? We always have our reminder there that even though we’re online, we’re Christians. “Why are the words of God the guide in the way you live and use social media?” The words of God are what is right; they are the truth.
Frenxie Pregillana: Of course, I follow creators whose content is based on study tips or healthy habits. And that inspires me to apply them to my day to day. In addition, I follow Church pages that inspire and motivate me to strengthen my faith and share it.
Krest-Anne: What I really am consuming more of are the official pages of the Church such as INC Media and INC Media News and the many different pages such as INCPC, they also have their own page, INC Radio as well.
Gabriel Cruz Velarde: It’s very important because that way we can influence people with good deeds and not be influenced by the world. Well, I watch INC Radio a lot. I also watch the official account of the Church Of Christ on Tiktok a lot. When there are Bible studies, I send my friends articles from the Church Of Christ to get them interested in attending. Through posts, sending religious articles, or tagging them in the Verse of the Week.
Michelle Limon: But above all, I follow the pages of the Church Of Christ that give me a lot of inspiration, especially every Wednesday, I wait for the Verse of the Day to be able to share it on my social networks and that they can also cause the same inspiration that it gives me, my followers, or to my friends that I have on social media. And because the words of God are not like trends, no, they’re not like fashion that is constantly changing. The words of God are eternal, they remain and never change. As we’re always taught, we’re the light of this world. So we shouldn’t allow our light to go out, right? We have to enlighten others, we have to be an instrument within the Church Of Christ to share what is true, to share our faith, especially to young people.
