HOST: In this week’s INC News World: Washington State collaborates with INC Media Services, learning strategies to stay connected and engaged with guests online. The Church Of Christ continues expanding with new group worship services established in Calgary, Canada. And see how members in Vancouver, Canada, share their faith through performance art. Your INC News World starts now.
HOST: Welcome to INC News World. I’m Naomi De La Cruz coming to you from the INC Media Studios in Los Angeles, California. People are consumed with their lives they have online. So how does one go about interacting and creating personal relationships? When as Asurion Global Tech Study states,
HOST CONTINUED: Americans check their phones 80 times a day on average, every 12 minutes.
HOST: With so many people invested in the online world, we find a community who’s taking the time to learn how to impact the lives of people online. Jake Papa has the details.
BROTHER RICHIE JUATCO (MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL): This is where everyone’s at most of the time, their mobile devices, their faces are here.
JAKE PAPA: The goal was to use strategies to stay connected and engaged with guests online after they’ve attended Church events. With two webinar sessions under their belt, ministers and officers in Washington State learned a whole spectrum of digital strategies such as, how to choose the right pictures to post for social media, why tagging posts are important, using Facebook events and groups and even how to effectively connect to the Spanish audience through social media. All these are just ways to help people connect to the truth found in the true Church Of Christ. Brother Richie Juatco, a Minister of the Gospel, led the audience in explaining how the online world works. In this day and age it’s becoming more difficult to create personal relationships.
BROTHER RICHIE JUATCO (MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL): The ones online, they’re the ones visiting church websites. So, if they’re doing that, you know they’re not saying it out right. But, inside, that’s what they’re looking at. We have to take advantage of that and so we have to, it’s so important that we establish ourselves digitally online.
BROTHER BARRY THOMPSON (MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL): When it comes to religion, it’s a tough market. Why? So many distractions.
ALIW PABLO: It is literally a digital world and we know that we live in it. You know we can’t live without these devices.
JAKE PAPA: Learning about how digital evangelism works, by promoting the good news of the Gospel in a digital space helping to teach others to adopt Christian beliefs and lifestyles.
DIMPLE BENEDICTO: First thing we’re gonna talk about is how to write to a non-member audience.
JAKE PAPA: After the seminars, Church Of Christ members were more than excited to begin using what they’ve learned online.
FRENDHEL FEJERAN (INC MEMBER – KENT, WASHINGTON): So excited to continue to practice everything that we have been taught. I remember learning and I will never forget is how frequently people are on their phones and what better way to actually send them inspiring content and not only that but our flyers to our upcoming events on a regular basis.
JOELLEN FAJARDO (INC MEMBER – SEATTLE, WASHINGTON): The most useful thing I learned and try to implement is the blank paper test. One of the first posts we implemented this on it increased the engagement with Facebook users significantly. With that one post we were able to reach over 65,000 people which is the most we have ever reached. I personally found these webinars to be extremely helpful in performing my duty as a District Media Bureau member.
JAKE PAPA: Church Of Christ members are continuing to learn more so that they can utilize their efforts in sharing the good news of the gospel. To learn more about the Church Of Christ log onto INCMedia.org. Jake Papa; Iglesia Ni Cristo News Network; Seattle, Washington.
HOST: Alberta, one of the westernmost provinces of Canada is also home to a quickly growing population. Studies show people immigrating to Alberta is due to
HOST CONTINUED: its high standard of living recognized world wide, job growth in the industrial and service economy, universal healthcare, and a renowned educational system.
HOST: With an ever growing population, so do the number of places of worship grow for the Church Of Christ in Alberta. Zandhrea De Guzman gives us the details.
ZANDHREA DE GUZMAN: Strathmore, 50 kilometers outside of Calgary, holding just over 12,000 residents. A small, quiet town where Church Of Christ members also live. Having to travel to and from Calgary, stories were told of the immense weather and traveling conditions one would have to bear in attending the worship service.
ROSALYN PAMINTUAN (INC MEMBER): They were telling us stories how it would take them 5, 6, 7, 8 hours in the blizzard just to get home from the worship service.
ZANDHREA DE GUZMAN: As it’s common for Strathmore to have extreme weather conditions, it wasn’t a surprise for what would happen next for Church Of Christ members in Strathmore. The establishing of the new group worship service of Strathmore and its impact on members like Joseph.
JOSEPH MALLANAO (INC MEMBER): Yeah, it’s so very important because it’s a struggle for us, especially when the highway was closed because of the severe weather. It helps us to fulfill our duties as well because it’s much nearer to our place, our worship service already.
ZANDHREA DE GUZMAN: And joining in the celebration were members like Brian whose emotions couldn’t be held back because of the answered prayers of the members in Cochrane.
BRIAN CARBONELL (INC MEMBER): We were registered in Banff GWS [Group Worship Service] so it depends during summer. We have to travel an hour and fifteen minutes and then during winter, we have to take extra time to travel because of the icy roads. And now, we could have our own worship service here. Praise unto, praise our God for giving us this worship service.
ZANDHREA DE GUZMAN: These group worship services are even more vital to the ongoing needs of the members of the Church Of Christ in Alberta, Canada while bringing the truth to people even closer.
SIEGFRED ESCOBAR (INC MEMBER): I believe that it’s important to establish more group worship service[s] because the members are growing.
ZANDHREA DE GUZMAN: The two consecutive inaugural worship services were officiated by Brother Rolando Gaviola, the District Supervising Minister of the Ecclesiastical District of Calgary. And with two newly established group worship services in the Alberta region, members are poised to grow even more.
ROSALYN PAMINTUAN (INC MEMBER): Also, they are reaching out in inviting people to the Church.
BRIAN CARBONELL (INC MEMBER): We promise to invite more people, invite guests to listen to the holy words and always edify our brethren over here. We promise to continue to be obedient and loyal to the Church Administration.
ZANDHREA DE GUZMAN: And the Alberta region is now poised to have 8 more inaugural worship services within the next month. These victories are all part in commemorating the 10 years of Brother Eduardo V. Manalo as Executive Minister of the Church Of Christ through his dynamic leadership of the Church and the overwhelming victories around the world, just like in Alberta, Canada through the help of God. HOST: Being far from our family and friends can be lonely. This is the situation for many immigrants living in Canada.
HOST: Immigrants comprised 20.6% of Canada’s population, so one in five people were immigrants.
HOST: We head to Vancouver where Church members spent the evening uplifting their neighbors through performance art. Myrtle Alegado has more details.
BRIAN RAMIREZ (ACTOR – SURREY, CANADA): So I play the role of Carlos, who is a Canadian citizen now, but he moved there with his family; with his mom and his siblings.
MYRTLE ALEGADO: “Where The Heart Is” — a stage play produced by members of the Church Of Christ, takes us through the journey of Carlos played by Brian, and Carla played by Kate, as they adjust to life in Canada.
KATE CONCEPCION (LEAD ACTRESS – BURNABY, CANADA): She is a very strong woman even though she came to Canada by herself very young—she was very hard working.
MYRTLE ALEGADO: Hard work is exactly what these actors put into preparing for this stage play.
BRIAN RAMIREZ (ACTOR – SURREY, CANADA): We had a ton of rehearsals. We had a lot of months of remembering lines, practicing together, getting cues together. It was a challenge, but we overcame it together.
MYRTLE ALEGADO: Launched by the Church Administration, INCenterstage – is a 1 act play that promotes Christain values. Bringing together members with interests in the performing arts, screenwriting, and stage production. Coming together from all over British Columbia, members of the Church Of Christ took this opportunity to use their talents to share more than their time.
KATE CONCEPCION (LEAD ACTRESS – BURNABY, CANADA): We were able to share our faith in such a creative way.
BROTHER MORIEL CADACIO (BRITISH COLUMBIA – DISTRICT SUPERVISING MINISTER): It’s amazing to see that we have those kind of brethren who are really talented, not only in acting but also in singing and we know that it’s God’s blessing and it’s God’s gift.
KATE CONCEPCION (LEAD ACTRESS – BURNABY, CANADA): So people are getting more interested in what we are and what we do because they see that we’re very happy and they know why we’re very happy because it’s the true Church.
BRIAN RAMIREZ (ACTOR – SURREY, CANADA): One thing that unifies us all is always going to be the Church. It’s always going to be that global connection no matter where we go. No matter who we end up meeting or who we see. As long as we’re in, we’ll always stay in. And we always will have that connection with everyone.
MYRTLE ALEGADO: Grateful for the talents they have been blessed with, members of the Church Of Christ will continue to use their gifts to uplift and inspire, and most of all praise God.
