A former Baptist preacher finds true baptism inside the Iglesia Ni Cristo; and an INConcert in the entertainment capital of Las Vegas, Nevada.

HOST: This week on INC News World: a former Baptist preacher is baptized in Bloomingdale, and an INConcert event in the Mountain States. Your INC News World starts now.

HOST: Welcome to INC News World, I’m Naomi De La Cruz, coming to you from the INC Media Studios in Los Angeles, California. The term “switching” in the Baptist denomination refers to Baptists leaving their tradition for different faiths. It’s relatively common and, according to Baptist news,

HOST (CONTINUED): “such movements are picking up, driven by economic, social and theological considerations.”

HOST: But does this hold true for Baptist preachers? Leslie Esguerra has the details.

MICHAEL BECK: It’s an exciting day, an exciting day, Amen!

LESLIE ESGUERRA: An exciting day indeed for Michael and these new brothers and sisters in the Church Of Christ. It’s the end of an inquisitive journey for him.

MICHAEL BECK (FORMER BAPTIST PREACHER – INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA): I come from a family of preachers. My father is a preacher, my deceased brother was a preacher, my grandfather was a preacher. So I come from a family of preachers in Indianapolis, Indiana.

LESLIE ESGUERRA: Which led Michael to become a preacher in his Baptist church, and he took to heart one verse in the Bible in particular.

MICHAEL BECK (FORMER BAPTIST PREACHER – INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA): The Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free. Through the teachings of the Iglesia Ni Cristo I found the truth, the truth was revealed to me, and the truth has truly set me free. As studiers of the word of God, all of us should be seeking the truth.

LESLIE ESGUERRA: Seeking that truth first in his former Baptist faith, it didn’t lead him to any sound conclusions.

MICHAEL BECK (FORMER BAPTIST PREACHER – INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA): Well, I was a former minister in my church, but one of the things that interested me in Iglesia Ni Cristo was that the fact that I liked the way the doctrines were stated more clearly for me. During the 28 doctrinal, fundamental doctrinal meetings that I had helped me to understand more fully the doctrines of the Bible. I felt the Holy Spirit teaching me, leading me to Iglesia Ni Cristo.

LESLIE ESGUERRA: Which eventually led to this day, the culmination of his studies and understanding: the day of his baptism. And the baptism of thousands of people around the world during the INC Grand Baptism 2019.

MICHAEL BECK (NEWLY BAPTIZED MEMBER – INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA): It’s overwhelming that the Almighty God hears and answers our prayer. As I live the life that God has called me to live, I can do more propagation and hopefully bring others to the knowledge of the truth in the Iglesia Ni Cristo.

TAMIKA FOULTNER (NEWLY BAPTIZED MEMBER): Because this is the true Church. They don’t realize that. Until they come see it, hear the teachings and join the worship service and then you will have a feeling this is the true Church.

LESLIE ESGUERRA: From Bloomingdale, Illinois where Michael’s baptism was held—to Indianapolis, Indiana, his hometown—the Church Of Christ across the Northern Midwest is making great strides in spreading the words of God. To see more stories of how others recently baptized found the true Church, stay tuned to future episodes of INC News World on incmedia.org. From Bloomingdale, Illinois, I’m Leslie Esguerra for the Iglesia Ni Cristo News Network.

HOST: Music can have a real impact on one’s behavior, especially amongst adolescents.

HOST (CONTINUED): Several studies have demonstrated that “preference for certain types of music could be correlated or associated with certain behaviors.”

HOST: Youth members in Las Vegas, Nevada took the opportunity to display the behavior they choose to have, through the music they love, and find inspiration from. Princess Rosano has the details.

PRINCESS ROSANO: The expressions of hope and strength filled this very auditorium at the Artemus Ham Hall in Las Vegas, Nevada. There were also expressions of courage, from performers like PJ, who traveled from Colorado to do something he never did before.

P.J. TANICALA: I’ve never really done a solo on stage, so to be able to sing a solo would be … I can’t imagine the rush.

PRINCESS ROSANO: But PJ wasn’t only singing for himself.

P.J. TANICALA: I like singing as a hobby already, so when you get the chance to do what you love, not just for … to edify the brethren but to edify yourself as well and to celebrate.

PRINCESS ROSANO: Celebrating with other music enthusiasts to unite in one voice at INConcert, a gathering of talents through performances of originally composed music of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, intended to bring inspiration to the Church Of Christ members in the District of Mountain States.

P.J. TANICALA: To uplift their faith as well as my faith.

PRINCESS ROSANO: Serving as a treat of excitement…

RALPH MALLARE: Everything was just so amazing. It was so overwhelming. The talent of all these brethren. What a night!

PRINCESS ROSANO: … and a feeling of upliftment.

KRISTINE BUCASAS: Being all together. Seeing it being performed by our brethren and it was very uplifting.

PRINCESS ROSANO: Uplifting in celebrating a milestone in the Church.

P.J. TANICALA: We’re here for the celebration of Ka Eduardo’s 10 year anniversary as leader of, as Executive Minister. So, it’s rewarding.

PRINCESS ROSANO: Rewarding for brethren like Desiree who was reminded why she was celebrating.

DESIREE LEGASPI: We are always grateful for all his sacrifices, especially with his traveling all around the world.

PRINCESS ROSANO: And caring for brethren throughout the entire world. Church Of Christ members gathered together in Las Vegas with a message of thanks and love.

BRIEN SONSON: Well first of all our faith brings us together. And that’s who we are doing it for. We are doing it for God, we’re doing it for the Administration.

ERIKA CRUZ: How successful the Church has become and how we are able to hold events like this and through the leadership of Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, we’re able to be strengthened.

PRINCESS ROSANO: Strengthened in a bright future through songs of inspiration, even for the youth.

LJ RODRIGUEZ: I believe that God will help me in my future and nothing can be accomplished if I didn’t believe in God and prayer.

PRINCESS ROSANO: Uniting together in the Mountain States District in all endeavors of the Church Of Christ.

P.J. TANICALA: Becoming inspired to perform your duty all the more.

PRINCESS ROSANO: Events like the INConcert have been held throughout the world, showcasing musical talents while performing Christian inspired musical works that help relay a positive message and a true faith to all.
